Engineering healing
How ligament injuries are benefiting
How ligament injuries are benefiting
When you play hard, injuries are inevitable. The only thing an athlete can hope for is a quick recovery. John’s presentation will discuss ligament injuries and how mechanical engineering can be used to better understand ligament healing to ultimately improve treatments for musculoskeletal injuries.

Presented April 14, 2017
John Everingham earned his undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from Boise State University and was selected as a Top Ten Scholar. He is a graduate student in the Northwest Tissue Mechanics Lab directed by Dr. Trevor J. Lujan and has had the opportunity to contribute to multiple research projects in the in areas of orthopaedic research, soft tissue mechanics, and physical therapy device development.
John uses his ligaments a lot as he spends most of his time outside of the lab in the gym practicing Brazilian jiu jitsu, kickboxing, and gymnastics strength training. (John says he also enjoys bubble baths, long walks on the beach, and puppies.)
