Industrial Robotic Applications

Past, present and future

About the Presentation

When Rekluse Motorsports founder Al Youngwerth was looking at ways to improve their production process, they started with lean principles, reducing their set up times, and reducing their batch sizes. Ultimately they recognized that operator labor and operational expense were two of the most significant constraints to growing the business. They researched several different ways to deal with these issues—and robotics was really the only solution that made sense. Just like Youngwerth did when designing his first clutches, he and his team went out and taught themselves about robotics.

The introduction of robot technology in manufacturing has made, and will continue to make, dramatic changes in how we look at producing parts and systems. This seminar will address:

  • The six-axis robot, the mainstay of industrial robot applications
  • Brief history of industrial robots
  • The major players in industrial robots
  • Traditional development cycle of industrial robot applications
  • Major disruptors in industrial robotics: Collaborative Robots and Robot as a Product
  • Future disruption: commodity robots, programming and communication standards
