- Teachers who pursue a Doctoral program (PhD or EdD) are advised to have approval from their section director and the Director of Instructional Programs to ensure that the area of focus is considered directly linked to education or the content area of the teacher. This will ensure the approved salary increment upon completion of the doctoral program. Completion of a doctoral program involves all coursework being finished, the thesis and defense being approved and that the degree has been officially awarded.
