ASFG is a caring community; as such there will be times when financial assistance for a staff member facing a serious illness or death can and should be offered from the community. This policy applies to all full-time ASFG staff members. Collections may be organized for staff members, their children, spouses/partners, or parents. Collections may be petitioned for directly by the staff member or by a friend or colleague when a need is detected.
Procedure for Providing Financial Assistance
- An anonymous collection may be organized for any staff member who is in need of financial assistance to cover immediate medical or funeral expenses for themselves or for an immediate family member
- this petition may come from the person experiencing the need or from a friend or colleague
- the section principal will verify the petition directly with the person involved
- section principals will send the petition to the Director General for approval
- the Director General will notify all staff of the situation and provide collection information: where, when, and who is responsible:
- there will be one collection location available during a one week time span
- the designated office assistant will be responsible for safeguarding the collection at all times, collecting funds a various times throughout the day, and locking funds in the section safe in the afternoon
- all contributions will be optional and anonymous
- the section principal/immediate supervisor will distribute all the collected funds directly to the person in need
- For long term needs, the person petitioning for the assistance, or the friend or colleague of that person, may provide account information for deposits or investments
- the account must be in the name of the person affected
- all contributions will be optional and anonymous
