The American School Foundation of Guadalajara, A.C. an “Asociación Civil” (non-profit organization), was formed and legally constituted on April 17, 1956. The buildings, land, equipment, and furniture are the exclusive property of the Association. No member, associate, or administrator has the authority or power to dispose of or sell the aforementioned property and any donation of property or money made to the Association is, at no time thereafter, refundable. Should the Association be dissolved, all property would be donated to another non-profit organization, in accordance with the Statutes. Said Statutes also prohibit the payment of dividends or fees to any member of the Association. All income must be re-invested in the Association.
From pre-Kinder through grade nine, ASFG is incorporated with the Mexican Secretary of Education of Jalisco (SEJ). For grades ten through 12, our school has an agreement with the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) which validates our high school academic program. Grades ten through twelve are also revalidated by SEP. The school is fully accredited pre-kinder through twelfth grade by AdvancED in the United States.
The Board of Trustees is the ultimate decision-making group in the school. They meet twice a year to approve the annual budget, resolve any issues submitted for consideration by the Board of Directors, review the annual report submitted by the Board of Directors and the Director General, elect new members to both the Board of Trustees and the Board of Directors, and may also call special meetings when necessary. The Board of Trustees consists of 14 to 25 members who are elected by the Trustees for an indefinite length of time.

The members of the Board of Directors are appointed by a majority of votes of the General Assembly of the Board of Trustees and serve for a three year term and can be re-elected. A Board member may also be a part of the Board of Trustees. The main responsibilities of the Board of Directors are:
The Board of Directors elects, from its own members, a President, Vice-President, Treasurer, and Secretary. All officers are elected for a term of three years. The Board of Directors conducts monthly meetings and can call emergency meetings upon the request of the President or a majority of the Board of Directors.

Board members and employees have an obligation to conduct business within guidelines that prohibit actual or potential conflicts of interest. This policy establishes only the framework within which the American School Foundation of Guadalajara, A.C. wishes its business to operate.
An actual or potential conflict of interest occurs when a board member or employee is in a position to influence a decision that may result in personal gain or gain for a relative as a result of ASFG’s business dealings. For the purpose of this policy, a relative is any person who is related by blood or marriage, or whose relationship with the board member or employee is similar to that of persons who are related by blood or marriage.
An employee of the school and/or his/her relatives (spouse, children, parents, grandparents, or siblings) shall not be eligible to become a member of the Board of Directors or Board of Trustees.
When contracting for supplies, equipment, or services from companies represented by a Board member or an employee or his/her family, he/she will notify the members of the Purchasing Committee as well as the full Board. As is true with any competing supplier, the Board member or employee may submit explanations or answer questions that clarify the bid/offer to the members of the Purchasing committee as well as to the full Board. He/she will renounce voting rights for this matter and dismiss him/herself from the room when the vote is called.
This policy does not exclude any Board member from discussing the school budget or any budget amendments, unless the discussion is on a specific budget amendment in which a Board member is directly involved.
The organizational chart depicts the organizational structure at ASFG. The Director General is the Chief Executive Officer of the school and reports directly to the Board of Directors. The administrative team is made up of four section principals, Mexican Program Director, Business & Administrative Director, Instructional Programs Director, Admissions Director, Development and Community Relations Director, and Physical Education & Sports Director, who report directly to the Director General. All other staff report directly to one of the above mentioned directors.
A committee to work on school issues that is appointed by the Director General each year, it will be composed of representation across the school.
A committee to work on curricular adoption and adaptation composed of curriculum specialists from the different sections.
A committee to work on issues related to security that is appointed by the Director General each year, it will be composed of representatives from across the school.
A committee to work on issues related to wellbeing of students and faculty composed of representatives from all sections of the school.
This committee works to foster environmental sustainability in our community, with the vision of becoming a carbon-neutral campus. It is comprised of students, parents & staff.
This committee works to deepen the implementation of technological innovation here on campus as well as support research and development initiatives among teachers.. It is comprised of teachers, curriculum technology specialists, technology director and administrators.
