Being particularly bad at video games
Extended definition: The word “dogwater” is an insult used towards to someone who is particularly bad at a video game, particularly fortnite. It compares the individual to literal hot dog water, which is widely regarded as very unpleasant, similar to the individual's skills at playing games.
Analysis:
The term “dogwater” first originated in December of 2020, when the Twitch streamer M1lk mocked another player, quoting “You're literally free, Boxed you, Dog water, 0 Pr, You have no earnings, No wager earnings, You're free, Literally so free, Freer than a free sample at Costco, Your dog water, literally so dog."
After this event, it was clipped and used across the internet transforming the phrase into a meme through the following months. It was seen frequently on social media and apps such as TikTok, where it was no longer exclusively being used in a fortnite context and had a much broader definition. Originally this insult was used by someone who needed to convey to another individual that they are absolutely horrible at a video game. Due to the widespread nature of the meme, it has come to be used to simply mean that someone is bad at something, despite this it is still primarily used ironically on video games to be funny.
Examples:
“Bro you keep dying you're actually dogwater”
“Our teammates are so dogwater, they keep throwing and making us lose.”
“Dude I’m actually dogwater I’ve lost five games in a row.”
