Respawn Simulator
Dying a lot in a video game
Dying a lot in a video game
Extended definition:
Respawn simulator refers to dying repeatedly in a video game like you’re running a simulation over and over again.
Analysis:
Respawn simulator is pretty much exclusively used in the context of a video game, so the people that might use this phrase are people that play or watch a lot of video games. If the person plays a lot of Overwatch 2, then they are more likely to use the phrase.
Video games are made to be a fun way to spend your free time, and when video games stop being fun and become frustrating, we need a way to communicate that. This is why the phrase respawn simulator was created. Respawn simulator specifically refers to the frustration caused by you or your teammates dying repeatedly. This shows how competitive gaming has become in recent years. If people weren’t competitive about winning in a game, they wouldn’t be frustrated by a loss and have the need to blame that loss on something. I contribute the increase in competitiveness over video games to the increase in esports and professional gaming because very good competitive players are being paid to play video games. The existence of professional gaming gives people something to strive for which increases the competitiveness of that game. Not everyone wants to be professional, but people just like to win which is why the average person wants to get better.
At this time most gaming is done on an Xbox one/Xbox series S/X, a PS4/PS5, or a computer (PC). A PC is seen as the best for competitive playing because a good PC will have much more frames per second (FPS). PC’s also use a keyboard and mouse which has a higher skill cap then a controller in most competitive games. There are some VR games, but they are very limited and not very good.
Examples of its use:
“I still won, but I felt like I was playing respawn simulator the whole game”
“We would be winning if our teammate wasn’t playing respawn simulator”
“I’m just dying over and over. I might as well be playing respawn simulator”
