Analysis of the "Three G's:"
On January 12th, 2021, Tumblr user missnumber1111 posted, “today’s agenda: gaslight gatekeep and most importantly girlboss.” This was shortened to “Gaslight, gatekeep, girlboss.” In summary it is a parody version (or gen z parody) of “Live, laugh, and love.” This phrase arose in 2021 but became more popular in 2022
Today, this phrase can often be heard from Generation Z (usually females) as a way of “hyping up” (encouraging) one another when they act in a way that makes them appear admirable. It is meant to be a compliment, but depending on the context it can also be used negatively. This phrase is mostly used ironically.
Gaslighting and gatekeeping are both ideas that are usually negative. Merriam-Webster explains that gaslighting is when someone uses “psychological manipulation of a person usually over an extended period of time..” There are serious matters surrounding this word as many people deal with “gaslighters” who make their lives difficult. But often, many young people use gaslighting jokingly.
Gatekeeping, Merriam-Webster defines is “a person who controls access.” A modern take on on "gatekeeping" is someone intentionally withholds information for their own amusement. An example would be when someone does not tell you where they purchased a jacket. This is usually because they want to keep the clothing company to themselves and not share, so they are the "only" person with that kind of jacket.
A girlboss as Michigan Daily puts it is “to make something or someone appear as a feminist idol or inspiration for profit, despite the numerous flaws of the person.” Girlbossing has been around for awhile but now has an insulting demeanor behind it.

EXAMPLES:
Alice: Wow I can’t believe Ashley broke up with her boyfriend over text.
Jess: Ashley needed to do it. He was a toxic person.
Alice: You’re right! She is such a gaslight, gatekeep, girlboss!
This is an tapestry with the three G's and a character from a Barbie movie named, Bibble. Bibble is an internet meme because of his weird actions and unusual language. Social media users would call this character “relatable" or could identify it as gaslighting, gatekeeping, and girlbossing. It is currently available for puchase on Amazon.
This is a photoshopped version of the phrase, which makes it appear like wall decor. This shows how it is a parody becuase the phrase that belongs in the photo (before it was covered) is "Live every moment, laugh everyday, and love beyond words." The idea that someone went out of their way to create this makes the meme much funnier.
