an emoji of a tampon
Menstruation has a negative connotation. Menstruation is seen as filthy or humiliating in certain communities, preventing even casual discussion of it in public or private. This is because harmful thoughts and beliefs about menstruation have emerged throughout the world's civilizations.Â
Period stigma manifests itself in society in a variety of ways. For example, discrimination against menstruating women might be small or large, but it is damaging regardless of whether it is a lighthearted jest or the propagation of a false notion. Period stigma expresses itself as charges that a person is PMS-ing or menstruation if they are thought to be acting sensitively, sharply, or aggressively.Â
A tampon emoji would spark a discussion about menstruation, which is the first step in changing people's beliefs. This may mean no more lying about your painful period cramps or sneaking a tampon under your sleeve on your way to work. People who menstruate shouldn't give a damn what societies think about periods because the period is a natural occurrence, we should feel empowered and more confident.
