Mid is a term used to degrade someone or something by calling it average, or mediocre. Typically, it’s used against an opinion opposite of your own. The term was first used by wrestler Maxwell Jacob Friedman, during a match where he decided to insult the midwest of the United States. He calls out Skyline Chili [Cincinnati-style chili restaurants], the Cincinnati Reds, and everyone else living in the midwest. The term gained popularity on TikTok when users began using the audio from Maxwell Jacob Friedman to describe a variety of things or ideas that they believe to be below average, contrary to popular opinion.
