The term ratio is a good demonstration of the zeitgeist of 2022, it exhibits a culture where someone always wants to top the other, a sort of high-stakes critical competitiveness within the webspace. So many of our “tough to talk about topics” are discussed online, which creates a ‘safe’ space to disagree, but just like cancel culture, this opportunity creates a situation where right is right and wrong is to be ratioed.
Ratio: (N.) When a post or action gets fewer notes (shares, likes, comments, and/or retweets) or support than its comment or rebuttal.
Ratioed/ To be Ratioed: (V.) A Twitter indication of a failed tweet.
Ratio: (N.) A mathematical term used to show the relationship between two or more variables.
To acknowledge a ratio on Twitter/ other publications
To attempt to achieve a ratio (genuine)
To attempt to achieve a ratio (just because)
To acknowledge a ratio in real life
It is arguably quite difficult to find when the first actual ratio occurred because it was probably… not documented, i.e. the asteroid that hit earth definitely ratioed the dinosaurs, but...
“The Ratio began being noticed on Twitter in early 2017. On March 7th, Twitter user @85mf[1] tweeted a screenshot of a tweet by House Oversight Committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz which had 701 replies yet only 23 retweets and 108 likes. He captioned it, "Nothing on this site makes me happier than reply-to-RT ratios like this. That is the ratio of someone who fuuuuucked up" (shown below, left). On March 15th, user @Brilligerent[2] tweeted "If the Replies: RT ratio is greater than 2:1, you done messed up" (shown below, right).”

Translation from French to English:
Grenouille de la honte /
Frog of shame
Si la grenouille de la honte à plus de likes que la publication de base, alors cette publication c'est de la merde /
If the frog of shame has more likes than the base publication, the post is crap (shit)

3. Observed Ratio

Who uses it?
Generally whoever uses the term is usually a Twitter user, but a ratio can happen anywhere. 👀
A natural/genuine ratio is usually observed, not claimed by the ratioer (objectively the best type/ most funny).
An attempted ratio that fails can be considered a “major L” (Loss)/ “Incel” behavior.
Comments/quote tweets on the original post don't always count because they can be in noncompliance with the ratioee.
