The word dank began to have a second definition (exceptionally good/high quality) in the 1980’s (dictionary.com), usually in reference to high quality cannabis/cannabis products or later a third definition arose in the 2010’s to describe memes that are particularly funny/edgy. Has also been used to describe dank memes about weed.
