The complete opposite or antonym of a “red flag.” A green flag elicits positive attraction towards a person on the assumption that this positive quality they have makes them a better, more well-rounded person. Green flags, like red flags, can be used to describe any relationship though are predominately used in context of dating relationships. The term green flag however is a much less widely used term than its counterpart red flag. Maybe it is easier to find negative flaws in others like how the news almost always seems to report on negative news since it makes people listen more than good news. Maybe it’s the satisfaction of knowing you dodged a bullet. Though there is some negatives about green flags. If a person has a lot of green flags, it makes it harder to find the red flag or two that may be lurking behind all the green. Also, as theoriginalpizzakitten said on Urban Dictionary, “Green Flags are often not as desirable as Red Flags because they have nothing to fix.” While the post only has 953 likes to 167 dislikes, a statement like that seems rather bleak and should be taken with a grain of salt.
