Frequently Asked Questions

When do we find out our form groups?

Students are informed of their form groups on their induction day in June.  If staff are available on that day we try to let the children meet their form tutor as well.

What will I need to bring with me?

A full equipment list can be found here.

What do I do if I get lost?

Any member of staff will be able to help you if you feel you are lost.   You will have a tour around the school on your induction days to help you to get used to the different buildings and rooms.  You can also watch Mr Butterworth's virtual tour before you join us which will help as well.

What do I do with my mobile phone?

Phones must be switched off and put away in bags or in lockers whilst you are on the school site.  Here is the full mobile phone policy for parents/carers to read.

What do I do if I have a problem or am worried about anything?

Any member of staff can help, but the best place to start would be with your form tutor who you will see every morning.   You can also speak to one of our friendly Pastoral Assistants or your Head of Year.

How do I find out what homework has been set?

All homework is set by teachers on Google Classroom.  When you join you will be shown how to access this from home.

What are the arrangements with regard to taking medicines/antibiotics in school?

If your child has been prescribed medication or you have given your child a preferred branded medication to take, it must be handed in at Student Services for safekeeping and clearly marked with the student’s name and form group. The medication needs to be in its original packaging and with the pharmacy label attached if prescribed. Medication must not be carried by students to avoid the risk of it becoming lost and found by another student.

It is your child’s responsibility to remember to take their medication at the appropriate time and to go to Student Services to request it. Details of the time and medication taken will then be logged on our computer system.

We would also request a covering letter from you detailing when and how the medication is to be taken and giving your consent for your child to take responsibility for their own medication.   It is your responsibility to ensure that any medication sent in to Student Services is in date.

Where can I find the holiday dates?

Where can I find the email addresses for key contacts?

These are available on our website:  https://sites.google.com/aetinet.org/greenswardwebsite/contact-us/staff-contacts

How do I find misplaced/lost items of uniform or PE kit?

Ideally all your child's items should be labelled.  If they have lost something they should go to see our Student Receptionist at Student Services or ask a member of the PE staff to see if it has been handed in.  Alternatively parents can contact our Student Receptionist by telephone.
