National Honor Society welcomes nine new members

By Saber Hanington

Nine students have been accepted into the Cony branch of the National Honor Society (NHS) and were recognized during a November assembly.

The nine new students are Fade Abdulmosin, Malak Alkattea, Emma Brown, Maci Freeman, Samuel Goldey, Maya Gould, Jasmyne Mills, Bryan Ouelette and Tyler Pelleiter.

“I feel very honored to be a part of Cony’s chapter of the National Honor Society. I applied because I wanted to take a stronger leadership role in my community, and I felt that being part of NHS would help me build my character, leadership skills, and give me an opportunity to help out in my community even more,” said Gould.

Members are selected by a five member council, who are selected by the school’s principal, according to the NHS website. Members must display characteristics of NHS’s four pillars: scholarship, service, leadership and character.
