CHIZZLE WIZZLE: A 131 YEAR TRADITION

By James Mooney IV 1/19/2022

What do the Olympic rings and Backstreet Boys have in common? Four students guessed correctly and figured out the clue for this year’s Chizzle Wizzle theme, which is: Let The Games Begin.

There will be four performances of the 131st student-led variety show from March 15 to 18 and students can still sign up to participate behind the scenes. Chizzle Whizzle is a long standing tradition at Cony High School, which started in 1890 making it the longest student-run variety show in the country.

Chizzle Wizzle allows students to go up on a stage with their friends and have fun, while showcasing their talents through songs, dances, comedy skits, bands and other special skills.

Although it is too late to join Chizzle Wizzle on stage, students can still show their school spirit by being a part of a committee team running the show and helping backstage.

There are sign-up sheets in the cafeteria on the Chizzle Wizzle bulletin board to work on the set design crew, stage crew, tech crew and makeup.

Each class will also have a booth at each performance set up to sell items to raise money for their graduating class. Homeroom teachers have sign-up sheets in their classrooms.
