Cony Will Not Host SAT Exam in the Spring of 2022

By: Ted Campbell

Cony High School will not host a testing site for the SAT during the Spring of 2022, after great consideration by the guidance department and administration, said Mrs. Richardson, head of guidance.

A major reason why Cony is not offering the SAT this spring is that more and more schools are going “test blind,” according to Richardson. This means that standardized tests such as the SAT and the ACT are becoming less important in the process of getting admitted to colleges.

A Saturday test date in March at Cony was considered, but the school decided against it after determining that finding space and staff to proctor the test would be too challenging, Richardson said.

Many competitive colleges and universities still require the SAT for admission. In response to this,  guidance is willing to work with students who are taking the SAT, Richardson said.

A list of testing sites can be found on the Collegeboard website. Local testing sites include: Waterville High School, Winslow High School, Auburn High School and Lewiston High School.
