by Ashlynn Niemi

A small group of Cony Students attended the BioMe Career Exploration at IDEXX in Gorham, Maine, this past week. These students have shown an interest in the sciences and had the opportunity to tour the facility, attend workshops, and check out the booths of numerous businesses, associations, and colleges, all affiliated with several fields of science. Cony Student, Aya Abdulmohsin, who attended the event reflects, “I thought the event was a really fun experience. We got to see the different businesses and job opportunities. I liked the tour and the presentations were informative. I learned a lot from the experience.” Students had the opportunity to converse with business owners, job field experts, and college recruiters to gain insight into the opportunities that our state offers. The students were taken on a tour where they could see all the working parts of IDEXX. Emily Kennard shares, “My favorite part was the event. It was interesting to see the laboratories firsthand.” Additionally, three presentations were offered guiding for advancing LinkedIn profiles, improving networking skills, and a Q&A with successful individuals in science. The free-of-cost career exploration was an informational, fun event that helped determine post-graduation decisions.
