Open Sketches school, open page and upload photo. Zoom into areas (eyes, nose, mouth) to trace image. look for all the lines you can see and then the shaded areas and zoom out from time to time.

Our eyes are approximately 5cm apart, and therefore each eye sees the world slightly different. Both eyes work together in sending a message to our brain and it is this that enables us to understand depth. Looking at the world in this way helps us to see the world in three dimensions and gives us a much greater field of depth.

Set up a still-life in the podium. You will need easels and boards and three different coloured felt pens or colour pencils.
Students will stand around the still-life and and keep their right eye closed. they can put their hand over it or use a patch. Its important that their feet remain in a fixed position. Use one colour and draw an outline of what you see. By closing one eye your able to flatten what you see.
Open your eyes, stay in exactly the same position, change the pen colour. draw the same scene on top again, this time with your left eye closed.
Finally, change the colour pen and open both eyes. Now draw the same scene again. once again you might find this surprisingly difficult as your binocular vision struggles to recalibrate between your drawing on the paper and the subject matter.
Extension work. Look at the still-life, close your eyes and draw what you have seen in the still-life.
