Look at the Howard hodgkin documentaries and image and discuss his work. consider the following
Use of colour- warm and cold colours/ emotional conection
Shapes and textures
simplification of images/ shapes/ landscape
Homework:
Select your favourite Howard Hodgkin painting and make a copy and analyse the painting using the 10 point analysis ( must include!!!!!!!!)
Lesson 2:
go around the school making as many different rubbings of different textures using pencils, and oil pastels.
Lesson 3:
Using your rubbings try to develop 2 compositions that could resemble an abstract landscape like the ones of Howard Hodgkin.
Lesson 4 and 5:
Start to paint on an A3 paper your chosen composition. paint straight onto your paper.
Once you have painted your composition you might want to consider adding some rubbing onto your painting, so you could go back to the original sites where you got your rubbings to do this.
