Task 1:
Look at the documentaries on the Gibraltar WW2 Evacuation and discuss with students.
Places they went to,
family stories,
life as a child or adult away from your home,
coming back to Gibraltar
Homework: students can write a paragraph on the Gibraltar WW2 Evacuation. If they have family stories, maybe they can write about them. They will need to print out an image from the WW2 Gibraltar evacuation and make a drawing. they can look at their own family photos or the following links:

Task 2
Ask the students The following question:
Make a list of the things you would take.
Take photos with your phone of the things you would take with you and bring them into your next lesson.
Make drawings of all of the objects you would take.
Task 3:
Look at the web links for the artist Micheal Craig Martin documentaries below.
Look at his website go to https://www.michaelcraigmartin.co.uk/painting
Select your favourite painting of objects and draw a copy. If you have coloured pencils colour it in or if not, shade with your normal drawing pencil.
Task 4:
Start to develop 2 compositions in the style of the artist Micheal Craig Martin using your own drawings of the things you would take with you if you had been evacuated during the war.
Consider the importance of the different objects and relate it to the size in your compositions. You could also overlap your objects. You can add colour(no tone) or do a black and white shaded composition if you have no coloured pencils. Line is very important in the artist work, so make sure you consider this. Divide a page into 2 sections to do this work.
Extension work using IT:
Developing the design using IT-Photoshop, Procreate or any other Apps. Take photos of your objects and start to layer the images to create your compositions. Use the outline of your composition to transfer to your Batik. Project the image onto the linen.
Task 5: developing a Batik or a print
Transfer your chosen final composition to the batik material in pencil and start the batik process.
Heat up the wax
Use the tjanting tools to go over the line drawing with the wax
prepare the dyes to transfer them onto your composition.
