L. Ruth Express opened in 1972, and was named after former park owner Alex Moeller's wife, Lydia Ruth Moeller. It is a scenic train ride around the park that lasts nearly 20 minutes. It weaves around Water World and directly through the supports of Ravine Flyer II. Its station can be located in the westernmost portion of the south end, near Music Express and Chaos.
When it opened, it was designed to have a track length long enough that two trains could operate on it, and in 2012, this became a reality. The previous year, the original engine was replaced by a new red engine (dubbed L. Ruth Express I), and a new blue engine was added in 2012 (dubbed L. Ruth Express II).
Sources state that Bill Tracy was at one point asked to "build a scene in the park’s L. Ruth Express train tunnel."
