Looper's opening date at Waldameer is unknown. It is shown in an earlier postcard to have operated directly next to Flying Scooter, in a plot of land taken up partially by Whacky Shack today. However, "Images of America: Waldameer Park" states that it operated in the space previously occupied by the 1944 Whip and the 1948 Caterpillar. It may have been installed before the 1948 Caterpillar was retired, and moved into that plot of land following the former's retirement. It closed after the 1963 season and was replaced a year later by Tilt-A-Whirl.
Riders could choose to invert themselves during a ride cycle if they desired, making this the second inverting ride to have operated at Waldameer.
Looper rides consisted of wheel-like passenger vehicles, which rotated around the ride platform while attached to the larger ride body. Riders can rock themselves back and forth within the wheel, causing the wheel to invert.
