My Furniture Design

Finding furniture of the right style, size, function and level of comfort is often difficult, especially for homes in Hong Kong which have limited space. I have designed a few pieces of furniture for my own home. The designs were usually done easily and quickly as they were simply what I thought suited my needs and were asthetically appealing. The problem was often the choice of materials and where to find them. It took me nine months to source the stained glass that I need for the pair of doors on my display-entertainment rack! And sometimes, the furniture makers did not fully get your design or pretended not to understand your design so as to avoid a more difficult job, and it could take quite a bit of time and patience to convince them!

Display-Entertainment Rack

Chinese style, solid hua-li wood, stained glass with traditional Begonia (海棠花) pattern, handcrafted hallow patterns to hide my old Roger LS3/5A speakers.

Wardrobe

Western style, clear glass French windows with color cloth hanging inside.

Lamp Table with Storage

This is a tricky piece and is intended to sit at the corner between two sofas (a 1-seater and a 3 seater). The idea is to have drawers sliding in and out of the corner diagonally so that the sofas would not obstruct them! The top can be lifted up with a lid for storing TV remotes etc.
