Immanuel Also Means God in us!
***What Does Matthew 1:23 TRULY mean?
Here is Matthew 1:23 from the KJV. “Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.”
Does 1 Corinthians 15:22 PROVE that EVERYONE will be SAVED?
In other words, does this verse of Scripture prove that the Bible teaches Universalism, which teaches that every person from Adam to the end of the 1000-year reign of Jesus will be saved?
Notice that Jesus quotes a PROPHECY of himself saying to his God and Father Yahweh, You SHALL make me FULL of joy WITH You CONTENANCE.

Almighty God the Father DWELT in Jesus!
Does Matthew 1:23 and Isaiah 7:14 where Jesus is prophesied to be called Emmanuel or Immanuel, being interpreted God WITH us, mean that Almighty God is a “TRINITY” Godhead made up of three separate persons?
Does Matthew 1:23 teach us that Jesus is Almighty God the Son incarnate?
Does this verse of Scripture teach us that Jesus is Yahweh Himself in the flesh?
Or does it simply mean that Almighty God DWELT in the Son of MAN, Jesus?
And thus, God being WITH Jesus, Almighty God the Father is also WITH us, FOR us, and in us as well.
Let us read both verses first and then see what the REST of God’s word teaches us about God being WITH us.
Matthew 1:16-25.
“And Jacob begot Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called CHRIST. (The word “CHRIST” means ANOINTED ONE and it also means MESSIAH.
Being the anointed one means not only being called or appointed but also means to be equipped or EMPOWERED to do the job you were called to do.
Many times, the word SENT means that Yahweh COMMISSIONED Jesus.
In other words, Yahweh ANOINTED Jesus with the Holy Spirit and POWER first and then sent Jesus into the world to preach the Kingdom of God.

Matthew 1:17. So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto CHRIST are fourteen generations.
Matthew 1:18. Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with the child OF the Holy Ghost. (The Holy Spirit is the Father, as in, God is Spirit and there is only ONE Spirit in ONE PERSON. So Almighty God Yahweh the Father and the Holy Spirit are ONE and the self-same being in ONE person who is Spirit.

Matthew 1:19. Then Joseph, her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privately.
Matthew 1:20. But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, (Some Christians who teach the doctrine of the Trinity teach that the angel of the Lord in the pre-existing Jesus before he was born as the Son of MAN.
But yet, we STILL see the angel of the Lord here speaking to Joseph in a dream when Jesus has already been conceived in Mary's womb.
Please read the study V-5. IS THE ANGEL OF THE LORD JESUS?) saying, Joseph, you son of David, fear not to take unto you Mary as your wife: for that which is CONCEIVED in her is of the Holy Ghost.
Matthew 1:21. And she shall bring forth a son, and you shall call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. (The NAME Jesus means the salvation of the Almighty God or the Almighty SAVES.
In other words, Almighty God chose as the means by which He would save mankind. And Yahweh’s prophesied PLAN of salvation was for His Son Jesus to be BORN as a HUMAN being FIRST.
Then God would ANOINT His human Son with the Holy Spirit and power before He SENT him into the world.
The Holy Spirit dwelling in His human Son would help Jesus live a life without sin to become a SPOTLESS LAMB that would be slain without cause.
And, therefore, a perfect MAN would become the sacrifice to redeem mankind back to Himself.

Matthew 1:22. Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
Matthew 1:23. Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God WITH us.
Matthew 1:24. Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:
Matthew 1:25. And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name JESUS”.
Again, the name Jesus means the SALVATION OF Yahweh. God chose salvation to be IN His human Son before the foundation of the world.

You may be surprised to learn that the “creation” account in Genesis 1:3 is actually the “recreation” of the earth that BECAME void and empty during the WAR that Lucifer and the fallen angels waged against God. So the “beginning in John 1:1” is NOT the beginning in the eternity past as some Christians “interpret” John 1:1.

But for now, let us read the prophecy where the Messiah would be called by the name Immanuel which is spelled Emmanuel in the New Testament.
Isaiah 7:14-16.
“Therefore, the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
Isaiah 7:15. Butter and honey shall he eat, (Referring to LEARNING the Scriptures to hide them in his heart in prophetic language) THAT he may KNOW to refuse the evil, and choose the good.
Isaiah 7:16. For before the child shall KNOW to refuse the evil, and choose the good, the land that you abhor shall be forsaken of both her kings.”
Why would an already God the Son need to LEARN how to refuse the evil and choose the good? Matthew 1:22 does not teach us that Jesus is Yahweh Himself with us.
But rather, the whole word of God teaches us that Jesus being called by the name Immanuel teaches us that Almighty God Yahweh was WITH us by Almighty God the Father DWELLING in the human Son of MAN, Jesus.
So then, the short simple answer is that Almighty God is FOR us, in that, He COMMISSIONED His HUMAN Son to lay down his life of his own free will as our MESSIAH to SAVE us.
One of the Greek words that is translated as SENT literally means to COMMISSION. And the word commission means to GIVE power and authority to one to accomplish that task that they are given to do.
And the other Greek word translated as SENT in the past tense actually means SENDING in the present tense.
So the King James Version is kind of misleading by translating these words as SENT in the past tense which could lead Christians to “interpret” that a pre-existing “God the Son” was sent down from heaven into the earth to incarnate himself to become flesh.

If you continue to read in Isaiah chapter 8, then you will see the WAR that will be taking place when Jesus comes again to fight FOR his people Israel to SAVE them from complete destruction.
Israel says to her enemy, go ahead and make your plans to attack us and give it your best shot. But just so you will know, you will never be able to completely destroy us because Almighty God is WITH us.
Now, God is not yet present WITH them but they know from God's word that God is FOR them and that He will come and FIGHT FOR them.
But what Israel has not yet come to realize is that because of their own disobedience all this persecution has come upon them.
God forsakes them for a little time until they call upon him to save them.
Then they will see their Messiah coming in clouds of glory and power to fight for them.
Yahweh raised up a Savior to deliver Israel and when the majority rejected Jesus as their Messiah at his first coming then God turned his great salvation to the gentile to PROVOKE Israel to jealousy.
God promised that He would turn AGAIN a SECOND time to deliver the REMNANT of Israel left alive after the war of Armageddon.
Israel will be jealous when they see Christians enter the City of Yahweh BEFORE them and they will repent and call upon the NAME of the Lord to save them alive in their mortal bodies to enter into the Millennial reign of Jesus to be taught concerning God’s WAY to save them.
Here is Isaiah 8:10.
“Take counsel together, and it shall come to nought, (Or your plans shall come to nothing) speak the word, and it shall not stand: for God is WITH us.”
In other words, Almighty God is FOR us being on OUR SIDE and God will fight FOR us and SAVE us.
I point this out so that you will know that all of the prophecies speak of the Messiah as being CALLED by the NAME Mighty God WHEN the government shall be laid upon his shoulders in the world yet to come.
Yahweh is WITH His Messiah and for that reason God’s Messiah will be called by the NAME Emmanuel which means God WITH us.
One of the Jews said that no MAN could do these things except God be WITH him.
And God being WITH His prophet means that God is WITH or FOR Israel and whosoever BELIEVES of any person in the world to be saved.
So then, another way that God is WITH us is that Almighty God the FATHER HIMSELF DWELT IN his SON Jesus.
Please read John 14:6-20.
“Jesus said unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes unto the Father, but by me. (In other words, if we want the Father then we MUST have the SON for without the SON no man has the Father. All through the New Testament we see only the TWO, the Father and the SON)
John 14:7. If you had known me, you should have known my Father ALSO: and from henceforth you know him, and have seen him.
John 14:8. Philip said unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it suffices us.
John 14:9. Jesus said unto him, Have I been with you for such a long time with you, and yet have you not known me, Philip? He that has seen me has seen the Father; and how say you then, Show us the Father? (Jesus was NOT claiming that he himself is THE ONE TRUE and ONLY ALMIGHTY God the FATHER.
But rather, Jesus was teaching us that his God and Father dwelt in him as the one doing the works.
And by showing us the WORKS that Almighty God the Father was DOING in or by the hands of His human Son then Jesus was showing us the true nature and character of Yahweh the Father. Jesus specifically identified the Father ALONE as being the ONLY TRUE God in John 17:1-3)
John 14:10. Believe you not that I am in the Father, and the FATHER in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the FATHER THAT DWELLS in me , He (The Holy SPIRIT of Almighty God the FATHER, as the FINGER of God) DOES the works. (The fulness of the Godhead did not dwell in Jesus bodily until after the cross when Yahweh HIGHLY EXALTED the Son of MAN, Jesus to become God’s ETERNAL Son.

John 14:11. Believe me that I am in the Father, and the FATHER in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake.
John 14:12. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believes on me, the WORKS that I do shall he do ALSO; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. (Jesus is going to the Father to present his shed blood that cleanses us from all sin so that we may be a clean vessel in which Almighty God the Father may DWELL in just as he DWELT in His SON Jesus to do the works.

John 14:13. And whatsoever you shall ask in my NAME, that will I do, THAT (Or in order that) the Father may be glorified in the Son. (Again, we see just TWO separate persons are being spoken of even though there APPEARS or SEEMS to be a third person. This will all become crystal clear as you continue this study in God's word)
John 14:14. If you shall ask anything in my NAME, I will do it.
John 14:15. If ye love me, keep my commandments.
John 14:16. And I will pray to the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that HE may abide with you forever; (Speaking of the Comforter being the Father Himself as an EARNEST of His very own self-same Holy Spirit, a part of Himself and NOT a separate third person.
Know you not that you are the temple of GOD and that the Holy Spirit of God DWELLS in you?)
John 14:17. Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive because it sees HIM not, neither knows HIM: but you know HIM; for He dwells with you, and shall be in you. (Speaking of the day of Pentecost and every day since that day where a believer RECEIVES the INDWELLING of the Holy Spirit of Almighty God the Father)
John 14:18. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
John 14:19. Yet a little while, and the world sees me no more; but you see me: because I live, you shall live also.
John 14:20. On that day you shall know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you.”
Jesus taught us that it was the Father's Will that sent or commissioned him and that it is that Father’s Will that we HONOR the SON EVEN as we HONOR the Father.
Again, we ONLY see the TWO, Almighty God the Father and His anointed human SON, Jesus.
And we see that Jesus could do NOTHING of himself.
So, ask yourself the question, how can a fully Almighty God Himself do NOTHING of Himself if so be that the human Son of Almighty God is Almighty God Himself in the FLESH?
Can you not see that Almighty God Himself DWELT in His human Son Jesus? And that is HOW God was with us.
Jesus was a MAN who was APPROVED of God. God was WITH the man Jesus.
Please read John 5:18-27.
“Therefore, the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the Sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself EQUAL with God. (Jesus never once said that he was THE ALMIGHTY God.
Nor did Jesus ever say or try to make himself EQUAL with HIS God and Father, the ONE TRUE and ONLY ALMIGHTY God.
You see, this was just the Jews FALSELY ACCUSING Jesus of making himself equal with God because he called God his Father.
These same Jews ALSO FALSELY ACCUSED Jesus of having a DEVIL but we do NOT even remotely give heed to that false accusation against Jesus that Jesus had a devil.
In the following verse we see Jesus making a DEFENSE that he is NOT making himself equal with God as the Jews are accusing him of doing)
John 5:19. Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The SON can do NOTHING of HIMSELF, but what he sees the Father do: for what things soever he does, these also does the Son likewise.
John 5:20. For the Father loves the Son, and shows him all things that himself does, (Through a vision or a dream or through the voice of the Holy Spirit of the Father within him, the Son sees and simply obeys what he sees and hears the Father doing or saying through the voice of the Holy Spirit) and He will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel.
John 5:21. For as the Father raises up the dead, and quickens them; EVEN so so the Son quickens whom he will .
John 5:22. FOR (Or BECAUSE) the Father judges no man, but has COMMITTED all judgment unto the SON:
John 5:23. That all men should honor the SON, EVEN sa they honor the Father. He that honors NOT the SON honors NOT the Father which has SENT him. (Again, we must believe in BOTH the Father AND the SON and if we do NOT honor the SON then we do NOT honor the Father. Again, the Holy Spirit is the Father Himself and NOT a third separate person from the Father)
John 5:24. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that hears my word, AND believes on him that SENT me, (As in, God is SENDING Jesus by leading and guiding him and NOT that a God the Son was sent down from heaven. We are to believe that God was WITH Jesus and he or she who believes that Jesus is the ANOINTED human Son of God who came out from God) has everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
John 5:25. Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.
John 5:26. For as the Father has life in himself, (Or in the SAME WAY that Almighty God the Father possesses IMMORTALITY) so has He GIVEN to the Son to have life in himself (Or Almighty God the Father who ALONE has always possessed IMMORTALITY has now HIGHLY EXALTED his SON Jesus to become a God to sit by his side and rule and has GIVEN His SON Jesus to be having ETERNAL LIFE to BECOME an IMMORTAL being like HIS God and Father)
John 5:27. AND has GIVEN him authority to execute judgment ALSO, BECAUSE he is the Son of MAN.”
NOT because Jesus was FULLY THE ALMIGHTY God in the flesh. And NOT because Jesus was even the SON of Almighty God.
But rather, Almighty God HIGHLY EXALTED his SON Jesus BECAUSE he was the Son of MAN who OVERCAME the enemy to clear his Father's NAME.
For you see, Yahweh’s name was being falsely accused of creating Lucifer as an evil rebellious being and thus it was not Lucifer's fault for trying to take over the very throne of Almighty God.
Please read the study called Q-1. UNDERSTANDING WHY? for a deeper understanding of the BIG picture of WHY God made Jesus to be a little LOWER or inferior than the angels only to later highly exalt him and us to be over and judge the angels?
And WHY did an ALL MIGHTY and MOST high God needed to keep his plan of salvation a SECRET?
And WHY does God bind Satan for 1000 years only to let him LOOSE again to deceive the nations one last time?
But for now, let us get back to the study at hand.
In the passage of Scripture above in John chapter 5, we learned that Almighty God GAVE his SON Jesus ETERNAL LIFE which ALONE should be enough evidence that Jesus was NOT fully THE ALMIGHTY God in the flesh.
I mean if this were TRUE that Jesus himself is Almighty God Himself then WHY would an ALMIGHTY God who has ALWAYS BEEN an IMMORTAL being need to be GIVEN immortality?
Please read 1 Timothy 6:16 where were clearly and plainly see that the ALMIGHTY SOVEREIGN God ALONE has IMMORTALITY and this ONE TRUE and ONLY ALMIGHTY God is INVISIBLE which no man can ever SEE.
1 Timothy 6:14-16.
“That you KEEP this commandment (Or that you KEEP and hold fast to this principle or to this teaching) without spot, UNREBUKABLE, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:
1 Timothy 6:15. Which in his times (Speaking of the first and second comings of Jesus) he shall show, who is the blessed and ONLY Potentate, (Or Jesus came to SHOW us the FATHER who IS the ONLY ALMIGHTY SUPREME and SOVEREIGN God) the King of kings, and Lord of lords;
1 Timothy 6:16. Who ONLY has IMMORTALITY, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man has seen, NOR CAN SEE: to whom be honor and power everlasting. Amen.”
The Bible teaches us that Almighty God is INVISIBLE or more precisely God is UNSEEN by mortal men.
And no man has SEEN GOD at any time and lived. But men have SEEN Jesus who is NOW the EXPRESS IMAGE of the unseen God AFTER the CROSS.
The word of TRUTH teaches us that God is a SPIRIT whom we just learned is the ONLY being that has always possessed IMMORTALITY in Himself as the SOURCE of all life.
The Bible also teaches us that the SPIRIT is ETERNAL.
So then, seeing that Almighty God the Father is a SPIRIT that ONLY is IMMORTAL or ETERNAL then the only conclusion that I myself can draw is that the ONE TRUE and ONLY ALMIGHTY God who is the one INVISIBLE SPIRIT in ONE PERSON.
In other words, the Father is the ETERNAL SPIRIT who DWELT in the Son of MAN Jesus and the Son of MAN, Jesus, is the only begotten SON of Almighty God the FATHER.
So, to me, I myself only see that the Bible teaches us of TWO separate persons that we must believe in in order to receive eternal life in the world to come.
So, I conclude that Almighty God was WITH the people of Israel in the days of the flesh of Jesus because the Almighty Father HIMSELF was DWELLING in his human SON Jesus.
And Almighty God is WITH the unsaved in the world today, in that, God is FOR all humans.
And God is WITH Christians by DWELLING IN us who are BELIEVERS in the SON of Almighty God.
Please read 1 John 4:6-16, which clearly teaches us that if we believe that Jesus is the SON of Almighty God, then Almighty God HIMSELF DWELLS in us.
1 John 4:6-16.
“We are of God: he that knows God hears us; he that is not of God hears not us. Hereby, we know the spirit of TRUTH, and the spirit of error.
1 John 4:7. Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loves is born of God, and knows God.
1 John 4:8. He that loves not knows not God; for God is love.
1 John 4:9. In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God SENT his only begotten SON into the world, that we might live through him.
1 John 4:10. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and SENT his SON to be the propitiation for our sins.
1 John 4:11. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
1 John 4:12. No man has seen God at any time. (NOT because it is impossible for God to ever be seen. But rather, God is SPIRIT, and he is INVISIBLE to mortal humans so that no man can EVER SEE him unless God manifests Himself to be UNDERSTOOD that He is our creator) If we love one another, God DWELLS in us, and his love is perfected in us.
1 John 4:13. Hereby, we know that we dwell in Him, and He in us, BECAUSE He (Almighty God the Father) has GIVEN us of His Spirit. (This verse along with many other verses of Scripture clearly teaches us that Almighty God and the Holy Spirit are ONE and the SELF SAME BEING.
So, we have Almighty God the FATHER who is the Holy Spirit and we have God's SON Jesus)
1 John 4:14. And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Savior of the world.
1 John 4:15. Whosoever shall CONFESS that Jesus is the SON of God, God DWELLS in him, and he in God. (Nowhere in the word of TRUTH, the Holy Bible, have I myself ever found that we are commanded or taught to CONFESS or BELIEVE that Jesus HIMSELF is THE ONE TRUE and ONLY ALMIGHTY God.
But here we are CLEARLY and PLAINLY taught to believe and CONFESS that Jesus is the SON of Almighty God the Father)
1 John 4:16. And we have known and believed the love that God has to us. God is love; and he that dwells in love dwells in God, and God in him.”
In fact, the Apostle John himself point blank told us that the very REASON why he wrote the Gospel of John was so that we would believe that Jesus is the CHRIST, the SON of God and that by believing that Jesus is the Messiah and the SON of Yahweh we will have eternal life.
Please read John 20:31.
“But these are written, that you might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the SON of God; and that believing you might have life through his name.”
So then, seeing that God is in us by dwelling in us then most assuredly God is WITH us and WITH the people around us by being FOR them to be saved.
So to me, neither Matthew 1:23 nor Isaiah 7:6 prove that Almighty God is a “TRINITY”.

The SOUND Biblical evidence shows us that the Holy Spirit is NOT a third person from the Father and that fact alone proves that the doctrine of the Trinity is NOT sound Biblical teaching.
The whole doctrine of the Trinity is of PAGAN origin and was MIXED with Christianity in the second through the fourth centuries.
The doctrine of the Trinity took several hundred years to develop to what it is today under much opposition by other faithful believers. Please read the study “ORIGIN OF THE TRINITY.

And after you understand that the REASON that Yahweh did that is to STILL His ENEMIES, Satan and the fallen angels.
Then you can understand that God made His human Son to become “a” Lord, “a” King, and “a” God, under and subject to his God and Father in order to JUDGE Satan and the fallen angels.
