John 6:54 Does Not Teach Transubstantiation!
***What Does John 6:53-59 TRULY mean?
Here is John 6:54 from the KJV. “Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.”
Do the words of Jesus that are recorded by the Apostle John in the Gospel of John, chapter 6, and verse 54, prove the Roman Catholic Church doctrine that they call “Transubstantiation”?
For those of you who may have never heard of this word, “transubstantiation”, it simply means the transforming of a substance into another substance.
In other words, the Roman Catholic Church teaches that when their priest offers up the “Sacrifice of the Mass”, then the elements of bread and wine are miraculously changed into the literal SUBSTANCE of the literal body of flesh and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Whereas, Protestant Christians understand the breaking of bread at communion as being symbolic elements of bread and wine, which we eat in REMEMBRANCE of what Jesus did for us on the cross.
When Jesus broke the bread and gave it to his disciples saying, “take this and eat, this is my body”, did Jesus INTEND his words to mean that he miraculously changed the bread and wine into his literal body and blood, as the Roman Catholic Church teaches”?
Or did Jesus use the elements of bread and wine as an observance, like water baptism symbolism being dead to our old man of the flesh to be buried with Jesus and then rise up out of the water being made clean from all of our unrighteousness to now walk in newness of righteousness?
So then, which “INTERPRETATION” is the sound Biblical understanding that agrees completely with the whole word of Almighty God.

Is the Roman Catholic Doctrine of Transubstantiation Biblical?
Let us begin this study in God’s word, by first explaining what I myself mean by the phrase “awkward interpretations” of verses of Scripture.
We all have experienced “awkward” situations. And sometimes we use the analogy in the expression, “the elephant in the room”.
An elephant is a large animal that is meant to be outdoors, because it is too large to fit into a small room.
Thus, it would be “uncomfortable”, if indeed, there was a literal elephant in the room.
So then, by me expressing that the doctrine of “transubstantiation” is an elephant in the room, when the room has both Roman Catholic Christians and Protestant Christians in the same room, then I am saying that it is a subject that is too CONTROVERSIAL to try to cover in a short Bible study such as this.
Therefore, I may not answer every question that you, as a Roman Catholic Christian, may have in just this one Verse Study on John 6:54.
So, if after reading this whole study and you find that you do have further questions that I do not cover in this particular Verse Study, then please feel free to write to me at my Email address that I give at the end of every Bible study that I write.
But for now, let me explain a little further by what I mean when I use the words, an “awkward interpretation”.
And then, after this brief definition of the word “awkward” we will delve into the “awkward” interpretation of verses of Scripture found in John 6:54.
What Do I Mean by AWKWARD Interpretations?
The Etymology of the Word AWKWARD!
The Old English original meaning and use of the word “awkward” means to turn the wrong way, going in the wrong direction.
Another obsolete meaning is PERVERSE!
And the word perverse means:
1.
a: turned away from what is right or good : corrupt
c: contrary to the evidence or the direction of the judge on a point of law.
2.
a: obstinate in opposing what is right, reasonable, or accepted : wrongheaded
b: arising from or indicative of stubbornness or obstinacy
And here is a Thesaurus of how we use the word “awkward” in the world today.
Thesaurus: synonyms, antonyms, and examples.
Not easy to deal with or understand.
Difficult / hard / complicated / complex / tricky It’s quite tricky getting the puzzle pieces to fit together.
So then, the Roman Catholic “interpretation” of John 6:54 is awkward or perverse to Protestant Christians.
And at the same time, the Protestant “interpretation” is awkward or perverse to Roman Catholic Christians.
In other words, Roman Catholic Christians are heretics to Protestant Christians and Protestant Christians are heretics to Roman Catholic Christians.
Therefore, there is no need for using name calling, when commenting on my understanding of the words of Almighty God that He Himself put into the mouth of His Son, during the ministry of Jesus, according to the prophecy found in Deuteronomy 18:15-22.
We know full well that this is indeed a prophecy referring to Jesus, because the Apostles of Jesus quote Deuteronomy 18:15-22 in Acts 3:20-23, and Acts 7:37.
Plus, the fulfillment of that prophecy can also be found in John 1:45, John 5:38, John 12:48, John 14:24, John 17:14, Luke 24:19, and many other verses of Scripture.
Let us go ahead and read Deuteronomy 18:15-22 from the Revised Standard Version - Catholic Version, which is an authorized translation by the Roman Catholic Church.
The emphasis and comments are mine.
Deuteronomy 18:15-22 from the RSV-CV Bible.
A New Prophet Like Moses
Verse 15. “The Lord your God will raise up for you a prophet like me from among you, from your brethren—him you shall heed—
Verse 16. just as you desired of the Lord your God at Horeb on the day of the assembly, when you said, ‘Let me not hear again the voice of the Lord my God, or see this great fire anymore, lest I die.’
Verse 17. And the Lord said to me, ‘They have rightly said all that they have spoken.
Verse 18. I will raise up for them a prophet[c] like you from among their brethren; and I will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them all that I command him.
Verse 19. And whoever will not give heed to my words which he shall speak in my name, I myself will require it of him.
Verse 20. But the prophet who presumes to speak a word in my name which I have not commanded him to speak, or who speaks in the name of other gods, that same prophet shall die.’
Verse 21. And if you say in your heart, ‘How may we know the word, which the Lord has not spoken?’—
Verse 22. when a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the word does not come to pass or come true, that is a word which the Lord has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously, you need not be afraid of him.”
The English word “presumptuously” means that it is assumed that something is probable, expected, or intended.
It also means pretentious, as in, the way in which something is being assumed.
And it means taking something for granted.
In other words, when Christians take words or phrases out of their contexts, and then they interpret those words without truly considering what the whole context is actually saying, then they are “presumptuously” interpreting those words.
Therefore, the understanding of those words, which they have taken out of context, could very well be wrong, unless they just happened to accidently presume correctly.
Well, I myself do not presume any interpretation that I have concluded to be the correct, God intended meaning of that verse of Scripture that I have thoroughly studied.
In other words, I do not simply blindly accept what any church denomination dogmatically teaches, using fear and intimidation, to present their own understanding of the Scriptures.
To say this another way, I consider myself to be a Protestant Christian, but in no means do I believe every Protestant church doctrine.
In fact, I highly disagree with a great many of Protestant man-made church doctrines, because they contradict what the Bible itself actually teaches us in simplicity.
But rather, I carefully study the whole context first, then I compare Scripture with Scripture, in order to see if what I conclude that a verse means, agrees with the whole word of Almighty God.
With that being said, let us take a look at the title of this Verse Study called “This is My Body”.
This phrase is found four times in the King James Version of the Bible.
So, let us read those four verses before we delve deeper into the context of John 6:54.
I will quote two verses first, and then explain what I understand that they mean.
Matthew 26:26.
“And as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and blessed it, and broke it, and gave it to the disciples, and said, Take, eat; this is my body.”
Mark 14:22.
“And as they did eat, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and broke it, and gave to them, and said, Take, eat: this is my body.”
The controversy between Protestant Christians and Roman Catholic Christians is what did Jesus TRULY mean by the words of Almighty God, who put these words into the mouth of His Prophet and soon to be Messiah’s mouth?
I say, “the soon to be the Messiah”, because the Son of MAN, Jesus, was not actually made to become the Messiah by his God, until after the cross and resurrection, according to Acts 2:36.
So then, these two verses took place before the cross at what we as Christians call, the Last Supper of Jesus.
And the first question is, “did Jesus INTEND his disciples to understand that he miraculously changed the substance of the literal bread that he literally broke into the literal flesh of his human body for his disciple to eat?”
The second understanding is, at what we as Christians call the Last Supper of Jesus, “did Jesus INTEND his disciples to understand the BROKEN bread to REPRESENT his soon to be literal broken body at his crucifixion and death, which was about to take place?”
Before we PRESUME an answer, let us read the other two verses of Scripture with the phrase, “this is my body”.
Luke 22:19.
“And he took bread, and gave thanks, and broke it, and gave unto them, saying, This is my body, which is given for you: this do in remembrance of me.”
1 Corinthians 11:24.
“And when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.”
Let me explain what I see or understand these two verses to mean.
All of the disciples of Jesus were Jewish. And thus, they understood the symbolism of eating the Passover Lamb.
They understood that the literal lamb, which they kill every year on the feast of Passover, is to REMEMBER their being delivered by Almighty God from their bondage in the land of Egypt.
So, to me, Jesus is instituting another SYMBOLIC OBSERVANCE for his disciples to keep under the NEW Covenant.
And thus, the Apostles of Jesus passed down this observance of communion to do in REMEMBRANCE of what the Son of MAN did for us on the cross.
Jesus surrendered his own will, in order to do the Will of his God, which was for him to drink from the cup of shedding his blood and having his body be broken, bruised, and his flesh torn by scourging, to suffer the shameful death of being hanged on the cross as the atonement for the sins of the world.
And when we truly REMEMBER or visualize in our minds what Jesus SUFFERED for us to be redeemed from the bondage of sin, then we can indeed FEEL the literal PRESENCE of the Holy Spirit, who is dwelling within us.
This is called stirring up the gift that is within you, according to 2 Timothy 1:6.
And the more we dwell on what Jesus did for us on the cross, the more the Holy Spirit begins to spring up like a well of living water rising up and flowing out of us to cover us with the LITERAL presence of Almighty God the Father.
But in no way do I personally believe that a Roman Catholic Priest has been given the power to miraculously change the bread and the wine into the literal flesh and blood of Jesus.
That Roman Catholic understanding has to be “PRESUMPTUOUSLY” read into the Scriptures.
For you see, according to the Scriptures, neither the translated text nor the original Greek text have the words, “take and eat this bread, which I, Jesus, have just miraculously changed into my literal flesh for you to eat”
And neither do any of the Apostles of Jesus, teach us in the New Testament, that Jesus told them to teach us that when we take communion, then we MUST BELIEVE that the elements of bread and wine are miraculously changed into the literal flesh and blood of Jesus, or you will not receive eternal life in the world to come.
No! Absolutely not! The Apostles of Jesus never said even anything close to that.
In fact, Jesus himself clearly and plainly defines exactly what he INTENDS by the breaking of bread and the drinking of wine to ACTUALLY mean in 1 Corinthians 11:23-25.
Let us go ahead and read that passage of Scripture before we take a closer look at the context of John 6:54.
1 Corinthians 11:23-25.
“For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, That the Lord Jesus the same night, in which he was betrayed, took bread:
1 Corinthians 11:24. And when he had given thanks, he BROKE it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is BROKEN for you: this do in REMEMBRANCE of me.
1 Corinthians 11:25. After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the NEW Testament in my blood: this do you, as often as you drink it, in REMEMBRANCE of me.
1 Corinthians 11:26. For as often as you eat this bread, and drink this cup, you SHOW the Lord’s DEATH, till he comes.”
In verse 23, we see that Jesus TOOK BREAD on the night he was betrayed.
In verse 24, we see that Jesus BROKE the bread and EXPLAINED that the BREAKING of bread is to be done for the purpose of REMEMBERING the death and resurrection of Jesus.
For you see, Jesus surrendered his own will to do God’s will, which was for Jesus to TAKE the BREAKING of his physical body by bearing those stripes he bore for the PHYSICAL healing of our body.
God gave Jesus the option to choose of his own free will to either call upon his God to send a legion of angels to deliver him, or to do his God and Father’s will to suffer and die for the sins of the world.
In verse 25, we see that Jesus TOOK the cup, which represents Jesus surrendering his own will to do his God and Father’s will to take and drink of the cup, which was the shedding of his blood to establish the NEW Covenant, also called the New Testament.
And in verse 26, we see that as often as we observe the taking of communion, we are showing, proclaiming, declaring, teaching, and PREACHING our Lord and Savior’s DEATH and resurrection.
The death of Jesus would be in VAIN, if there was no resurrection, according to 1 Corinthians 15:19-28.
With that being said, let us take a closer look at the CONTEXT of John 6:54 by correctly understanding John 6:1-70.
You can read the whole chapter on your own for yourself.
I will summarize the John chapter 6 by sections, and then I will only quote some of the key verses.
In John 6:1-13, Almighty God works through his Prophet, Jesus.
In other words, according to John 5:19,30, and John 14:10, it was Almighty God the Father, dwelling in Jesus, who was the one who actually did the miraculous work of multiplying the two small fish and the five barley loaves of BREAD to feed the multitude of 5,000 people, through the hands of Jesus.
After everyone ate until they were full, the disciples gathered twelve baskets of leftover bread and fish that they could not eat.
John 6:14,15.
“Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world.
John 6:15. When Jesus, therefore, perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone.”
Notice that all of the people, who were most likely all Jewish people, because they knew the prophecy in Deuteronomy 18:15-19 was about that specific Prophet, who would be like Moses, which also did miracles, because God was with him as well.
Jesus PERCEIVED their thoughts by the Holy Spirit dwelling in him and God warning him to depart into the mountain alone.
Every true born-again Christian has God dwelling in them, according to 1 Corinthians 3:16, and 1 John 4:12-16.
And according to John 16:13, the Holy Spirit dwelling in us, shows us things to come, which we PERCEIVE by listening to the voice of the Holy Spirit telling us what to do and what to say.
Then in John 6:16-21, the disciples of Jesus go down by the sea, while Jesus is up on the mountain praying.
It started getting dark, the wind was blowing harder, and the sea was getting rough, so they left without Jesus.
They rowed the boat around 2 and one fourth of a mile, to 3 and 3 quarters of a mile out into the sea, and they saw Jesus, walking on the water toward them.
They were afraid at first, but Jesus told them it was him, and to not be afraid.
They received Jesus into the boat and continued to the other side of the sea.
In John 6:22-25, it was the next day and the people who witnessed the miracle of feeding 5,000 people with two small fish and 5 loaves of bread saw the disciples leaving without Jesus the day before just as the storm started to brew.
So, they also got in another boat down the shore and went across the sea in order to find Jesus.
When they got to the other side and saw only one boat, but yet, they also saw Jesus as well.
So, they asked Jesus how he got across the sea.
But rather than answering their question, Jesus gave them the following answer.
John 6:26-30.
“Jesus answered them and said, Truly, Truly, I say unto you, You do not seek me, because you saw the miracles, but because you ate of the loaves, and were filled.
John 6:27. Do not work for the meat which perishes, but work for that meat which endures unto everlasting life, which the Son of MAN shall give unto you: for him has God the Father sealed.
John 6:28. Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?
John 6:29. Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom He has sent.
John 6:30. They said therefore unto him, What SIGN will you show, so that we may see, and believe you? What WORK will you do?”
The key to correctly understand the God INTENDED meaning of John 6:54 is right here in these five verses of Scripture.
Notice that they did not seek Jesus because they truly believed that he was the Messiah.
For if they did, then they would not have asked Jesus for a SIGN so that they could believe that God truly sent him.
They wanted proof that he is the Prophet that was prophesied in the Scriptures to come and be the Messiah.
Jesus answered them and said for them to not work to eat physical food that perishes.
But rather, Jesus told them to work for FOOD that will give them eternal life.
And, in Matthew 4:4 and Luke 4:4, when Jesus hungered and he was tempted by the Devil, he told Satan that it is written, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.”
As a side note, Jesus told his disciples in John 4:31-34, that his meat or his food to eat is to do the will of God.
Then they asked Jesus what is the work that they must do to receive eternal life.
And Jesus said to them, BELIEVE on him and believe that it was God who sent him.
But they wanted Jesus to PROVE to them that God sent him.
They wanted a SIGN to see first, and then after they saw a sign, then they would BELIEVE.
Jesus teaches us Matthew 12:39,40 and Matthew 16:4-12, that the ONLY SIGN that the Jews would get, is the sign of Jonah being in the belly of the whale for three days and three nights.
And Jesus explained the sign of John to mean that the Son of MAN would descend into the heart of the earth for three days and three nights.
In other words, the SIGN given to the Jews is that they would come to UNDERSTAND that they CRUCIFIED their Messiah, according to John 8:28.
And that prophecy of Jesus in John 8:28 was fulfilled in Acts 2:22-42, when Peter preached the first Gospel message.
And 3,000 Jews, who crucified Jesus, by crying out, CRUCIFY him, were saved by hearing and receiving that Gospel message of a MAN APPROVED of God, whom the Almighty God MADE both Lord and cross, when God raised him from the dead to be seated on His throne at His right-hand side.
So then, to briefly summarize the true sound Biblical meaning of John 6:54, we are to eat to word of God by BELIEVING that Jesus GAVE his flesh to be offered to Almighty God as a sacrifice without spot or blemish to purge our dead conscience from dead works, so that we can serve the living God, according to Hebrews 9:14.
In the context of John 6:54, Jesus explained to his disciples in verse 57, that he lives by the Father and those who eat the flesh and drink the blood of Jesus shall also live.
And what that means in the LIGHT of the rest of God’s word is that Almighty God SHOWED Jesus the WAY to eternal life, according to Acts 2:28, Psalm 16:11, Psalm 21:4-6, Psalm 17:15, and Hebrews 12:2, which teaches us that God set this joy before Jesus to endure the cross.
And now, through the Holy Spirit dwelling in us, Jesus SHOWS us the WAY to the Father and how to receive eternal life to rule and reign WITH Jesus during the world to come.
Then Jesus explained to the Jews and to us in John 6:58 saying, this is the BREAD that came down from heaven, referring back to John 6:32-35, where Jesus teaches us that the TRUE bread that came down from heaven gives eternal life.
And when the Jews asked Jesus to give them the bread of life, Jesus said, “I am the bread of life, he that COMES to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.”
This is what Jesus INTENDS his words in John 6:54 to mean. We eat the flesh of Jesus by COMING to me, and we drink his blood by BELIEVING the teachings of Jesus, which teach us that Jesus suffered and died on the cross for the sins of the whole world.
And whosoever BELIEVES shall be saved.
Bread in the Bible is also referred to as leaven, and there is leaven bread and unleavened bread.
Jesus warned his disciples about the LEAVEN of the Scribes and Pharisees, then Jesus explained that leaven means the DOCTRINE or the TEACHING of the Pharisees.
So then, Jesus is the TRUE bread that came down from heaven.
Not a LITERAL loaf of bread, but rather, the true TEACHING came down from heaven by way of the Holy Spirit putting His words in the mouth of His Prophet to teach to his disciples.
Therefore, in the LIGHT of the whole word of Almighty God, eating the flesh of Jesus and drinking the blood of Jesus, simply means BELIEVING the TEACHINGS of Jesus under the NEW Covenant written in the NEW Testament.
I would also like to add that there are many other variables to consider, such as Jesus only spoke in parables, and without using parables, Jesus did not speak unto the Jews, according to Matthew 13:34,35.
Also, consider the Sower who sowed the seed is the key parable to understanding all parables, because Jesus said if we do not understand that parable, then how can we understand any parable, according to Mark 4:13,14.
And yet another thing that even some Protestant Christians have not truly considered is just how much DIVISION and false teaching was already coming into the church in the first century during the days of the Apostles of Jesus.
Jesus prophesied that there would be many false teachers, false prophets, and false Christs.
And in Luke 18:8, Jesus said concerning his coming, “Shall I find FAITH on the earth when I come?
The Greek word for faith is not the usual word for faith in other verses of Scripture.
Rather, this Greek word means the TRUTHFULNESS of God, as in, the CORRECTNESS of church doctrine.
So then, Jesus perceived through the Holy Spirit dwelling in him that there would be many who believe in him, love him, but they would be making a lie, according to Revelation 22:14,15.
Continuing to believe and teach false doctrine after you have heard the truth is making a lie, when you know that what you believe and teach does not agree with what the Bible itself is actually teaching us.
Jesus also said in Matthew 7:14 that the way to eternal life is narrow and only a few find the narrow way.
Then in the very next verse, Jesus warns us to beware of the wolves in sheeps clothing.
In other words, beware of Christians who do not teach the true gospel of Jesus ANOINTED.
So, in my heart, I sincerely believe that God is drawing as many as who will listen to the Holy Spirit, back to the TRUE FAITH in order to be found as God’s TRUTHFUL WITNESSES to clear God’s name being blasphemed by the enemy.
The Apostle John warned about MANY antichrists having entered the world in 1 John 2:18.
The antichrists are false teachers, and the word “antichrist” means instead of the ANOINTING.
In other words, the antichrists are wrongly teaching against the Son of Man, Jesus, being ANOINTED with the Holy Spirit having a portion of God’s Spirit dwelling in him.
And INSTEAD of teaching Jesus ANOINTED, they wrongly teach that Jesus is Almighty God Himself.
The Apostle John warns us in 2 John 1:9, that if any come to you who do not have the DOCTRINE of ANOINTING, then do not receive them.
And the Apostle Paul warns us about people teaching a different Jesus and a different gospel in 2 Corinthians 11:4 and Galatians 1:6-10.
Paul spent much of his time endeavoring to bring back the UNITY of the FAITH.
But yet, some Christians, including many Protestant Christians, read right over that verse of Scripture in Ephesians 4:13, and do not see what the TRUE FAITH actually is, that the Apostles of Jesus teach us all through the New Testament.
They do not see that all of the Apostles of Jesus, who were eyewitnesses of the GLORIFIED Jesus, and the disciples who CONTINUED in the DOCTRINE of the Apostles, were all in UNITY of the FAITH and the KNOWLEDGE of the Son of God being MADE to become a PERFECT man after the cross and resurrection.
Please read the study called, Ephesians 4:13 Proves that Jesus BECAME a Deity!
Paul warned us that there would be a great falling away, or a great apostasy, in 2 Thessalonians 2:3.
And I believe the Apostate Church began forming even in the day of the Apostles.
The Apostle Paul also teaches us in 2 Corinthians 2:17, that there were MORE false teachers corrupting and perverting the gospel, compared to the teachers, who were preaching the truth of the true gospel of Jesus ANOINTED.
2 Corinthians 2:17.
“For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.”
When you read the LITERAL translation of this verse, then you will see that the Greek word translated as “many” also carries the meaning of, the MAJORITY, which corrupted the word of God.
2 Corinthians 2:2-4.
“But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God.
2 Corinthians 4:3. But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
2 Corinthians 4:4. In whom the god of this world has blinded the MINDS of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.”
So then, for Roman Catholic Apologists to argue that there are hints or implications of the doctrine of transubstantiation that are found in some of the writings of the early church writers is absolutely useless evidence.
For you see, there were many FALSE teachings in the church even during the days of the Apostle Paul.
Therefore, the ONLY evidence that will support the TRUE Gospel of Jesus Christ that can be trusted are the Scriptures found in the New Testament of the Bible.
And thus, anything written after the Book of Revelation cannot be trusted to be taught as church doctrine, unless those extra-Biblical writings agree 100% with what the Bible itself actually teaches us in simplicity.
With that being said, I will close this Verse Study on John 6:54 with a prophecy found in Isaiah 29:19.
Almighty God is warning those who turn His counsel UPSIDE DOWN.
In other words, God says that He is not a MAN that he should lie, and neither is He the Son of MAN that he should repent.
But yet, church TRADITION teaches that God became FLESH, but yet He remained fully the Almighty God during the days of his flesh, having two natures at the same time, one Divine, and one human.
Isaiah 29:12-16.
“And the book is delivered to him that is not learned, saying, Read this, I pray you: and he said, I am not learned.
Isaiah 29:13. Wherefore, the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men:
Isaiah 29:14. Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvelous work among this people, even a marvelous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hidden.
Isaiah 29:15. Woe unto them that seek deep to hide their counsel from the LORD, and their works are in the dark, and they say, Who seeth us? And who knows us?
Isaiah 29:16. Surely your turning of things UPSIDE DOWN shall be esteemed as the potter's clay: for shall the work say of him that made it, He made me not? Or shall the thing framed say of him that framed it, He had no understanding?”
How many Christians have you heard that make the excuse for their not reading the Bible by saying that they cannot understand it?
God has given every true born-again Christian His Holy Spirit to dwell in them.
And there are many promises in God’s word where the Holy Spirit is our teacher who will lead and guide us into all truth.
This concludes this Verse study on John 6:54, and if I did not answer all of your questions, then please feel free to write to me at my Email address listed below.
Here is an introduction to a Verse Study that I wrote on John 1:1(c), “and the Word was God.”
John 1:1(c), “and the Word was God” has three possible interpretations.
So, what if the Trinitarian UNDERSTANDING of John 1:1(c) is WRONG?
What if the Bible itself is actually teaching that a MAN became a God to replace the fallen god of this present world?
If so, then ALL Trinitarian Christians are teaching ANOTHER Jesus that the Apostles of Jesus did not teach.
And thus, God cannot use them as His TRUTHFUL WITNESSES to JUDGE the fallen angels or the fallen gods.
Here is a quote from another website explaining what the Council of Chalcedon, that was in 451 AD, was all about.
“The Council of Chalcedon was called in 451 CE by the Roman Emperor Marcian (r. 450-457) to settle debates regarding the nature (hypostases, "reality") of Christ that had begun at two earlier meetings in Ephesus (431 CE and 439 CE).
The question was whether Christ was human or divine, a man who became God (through the resurrection and ascension) or God who became a man (through the incarnation, "taking on flesh"), and how his humanity and divinity affected his essence and being, if at all.”
In other words, ALL Christians at that time in history agreed that Jesus was DEITY or had divine NATURE.
But the question or DEBATE was HOW was Jesus Deity? When was Jesus Deity?
And did the Son of man, Jesus, become deity after the cross and resurrection?
Or did a pre-existing God become a man who remained fully God during the days of his flesh having BOTH natures at the SAME time, one Divine and one human, DURING the days of his FLESH?

Thanks for reading, and may God bless you richly as you continue to seek the TRUTH of the WHOLE word of Almighty God.
And to me, the truth concerning who Jesus TRULY is, according to the Bible ITSELF, is the Biblical Unitarian view of Jesus.
Once Christians, Jews, Muslims, and even atheists understand the REASON that Yahweh CREATED the Son of MAN, Jesus, was to have DOMINION over the work of Yahweh’s hands.
And after you understand that the REASON that Yahweh did that is to STILL His ENEMIES, Satan and the fallen angels.
Then you can understand that God made His human Son to become “a” Lord, “a” King, and “a” God, under and subject to his God and Father in order to JUDGE Satan and the fallen angels.
