The TRUE God Raised Jesus from the Dead!
***What Does 1 Thessalonians 1:9 TRULY mean?
Here is 1 Thessalonians 1:9 from the KJV. “For they themselves show of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God;”
Jesus clearly identifies Almighty God the Father as the ONLY true God in John 17:3.
And Matthew 16:16 and John 6:69 clearly identifies Jesus as the SON of the living God.
And John 14:6 clearly teaches us that Jesus is the only WAY to the FATHER.
But yet, both the Oneness Pentecostal Christians and the Trinitarian Christians dogmatically insist that Jesus is Almighty God Himself in the flesh having two natures at the SAME time, one human and one Divine.
However, the Bible ITSELF teaches us that Jesus BECAME Deity after the cross and resurrection.

The Father is the Only TRUTHFUL God!
Jesus BECAME the Eternal Son of the TRUE God!
The phrase “TRUE God” is found five times in the Bible, twice in the Old Testament and three times in the New Testament.
The Greek word in all three verses in the New Testament actually means TRUTHFUL God, as in, a God who does NOT LIE, a God who is trustworthy.
And the Hebrew word in both verses means TRUSTWORTHY.
Here is how the concordance in E-Sword defines the Greek word “alēthinos”.

Total KJV occurrences: 27.
Here is how the concordance in E-Sword defines the Hebrew word “'emeth”.

Contracted from H539; stability; figuratively certainty, truth, trustworthiness: - assured (-ly), establishment, faithful, right, sure, true (-ly, -th), verity.
Total KJV occurrences: 127.
Now, obviously, Jesus is ALSO truthful and trustworthy, but Jesus was NOT YET a God until after the cross and resurrection.
So then, when Jesus called his God and Father the ONLY truthful God in John 17:3, it was BEFORE the cross and resurrection.
Thus, to me, Jesus was contrasting Yahweh, the Father, the ONLY TRUTHFUL God against Satan, the LYING god of this present world who is NOT trustworthy.
With that being said, let us now read 1 Thessalonians 1:9 in its context so that Oneness Pentecostal Christians can see that Jesus is NOT the Father, who is being called the TRUTHFUL God in verse 9.
1 Thessalonians 1:5-10.
“Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the Thessalonians, which is in God the Father AND in the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, AND the Lord Jesus Christ. (To all my Oneness Pentecostal readers, please notice that the Father and Jesus are NOT one and the self-same being.
And to all of my Trinitarian Christians, please know and understand that according to Acts 2:36, the Son of MAN, Jesus was MADE to become both Lord and Christ or Lord and Savior AFTER the cross and resurrection)
1 Thessalonians 1:2. We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers;
1 Thessalonians 1:3. Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labor of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father; (Again, notice that God is clearly identified as being the Father.
And Jesus is clearly identified as being our Lord and Messiah)
1 Thessalonians 1:4. Knowing, brethren beloved, your election of God. (Or
1 Thessalonians 1:5. For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as you know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.
1 Thessalonians 1:6. And you became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost:
1 Thessalonians 1:7. So that you were an example to all that believe in Macedonia and Achaia.
1 Thessalonians 1:8. For from you sounded out the word of the Lord not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith to God-ward is spread abroad; so that we need not to speak anything.
1 Thessalonians 1:9. For they themselves show of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how you turned to God from idols to serve the LIVING and TRUE God;(Or to serve the LIVING and TRUTHFUL God)
1 Thessalonians 1:10. AND to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.
These verses clearly teach us that Almighty God the Father is the LIVING and TRUE God and Jesus is the SON of the LIVING and TRUTHFUL God, according to the above verse and many other verses of Scripture, such as Matthew 16:16.
The Apostles of Jesus are contrasting Yahweh the Father as being TRUTHFUL, the God who does NOT LIE, to Satan, who Jesus describes in John 8:44 as a LIAR and the father of LIES.
Every verse of Scripture in the Old Testament that has the phrase, “the TRUE God” in it, always refers to Yahweh the Father as being the only TRUE God.
2 Chronicles 15:3.
“Now for a long season Israel has been without the TRUE God, (Or without a TRUTHFUL God) and without a teaching priest, and without law.
Jeremiah 10:10.
“But the LORD is the TRUE God, (Or but Yahweh is the TRUTHFUL God) He is the living God, and an everlasting king: at His wrath the earth shall tremble, and the nations shall not be able to abide His indignation.”
And Jesus also clearly identifies Almighty God the FATHER as being the only TRUTHFUL God in John 17:1-3.
Also, Jesus identifies himself as being COMMISSIONED by his God and Father to RECEIVE power.

John 17:3.
“And THIS is life eternal, that they might know You the ONLY TRUE God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent.”
Again, the Greek word “translated” as the only “TRUE” God actually means the only TRUTHFUL God, where Satan is the LYING god.
Also, the LITERAL translation says, and Jesus whom You have COMMISSIONED.
And in John 17:2, we see that Jesus was given the promise to RECEIVE power after the cross and resurrection to join his God and Father to be SET or SEATED on Yahweh’s throne for 1000 years, UNTIL the Father puts all of the enemies under his feet, according to 1 Corinthians 15:23.
1 Thessalonians 1:9.
“For they themselves show of us what manner of entering in we had unto you, and how you turned to God from idols to serve the LIVING and TRUE God;”
Again, this verse should be translated as the living and TRUTHFUL God.
For you see, Satan is indeed a REAL being and a REAL god, but he is a LYING god who DECEIVES and oppresses God’s creatures.
1 John 5:20.
“And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us an understanding, that we may know Him that is TRUE, and we are in Him that is TRUE, even in His Son Jesus Christ. THIS is the TRUE God, AND eternal life.”
Again, this verse should read as TRUTHFUL. Jesus came to show us the FATHER as being the only TRUTHFUL God.
And we are in the FATHER who is TRUTHFUL by being in His now GLORIFIED Son who He MADE to become both Lord and Christ after the cross and resurrection, according to Acts 2:36.
Malachi 2:10.
“Have we not all one father? Has not ONE God created us? Why do we deal treacherously every man against his brother, by profaning the covenant of our fathers?”
Mark 12:32.
“And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, you have said the truth: for there is ONE God; and there is none other but He:”
Romans 3:30.
“Seeing it is ONE God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith.”
1 Corinthians 8:6.
“But to us there is but ONE God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.

Ephesians 4:6.
“ONE God and Father of ALL, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.”
1 Timothy 2:5.
“For there is ONE God, and one mediator BETWEEN God and men, the MAN Christ Jesus;
James 2:19.
“You believe that there is ONE God; you do well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
1 Timothy 1:17.
“Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the ONLY WISE God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
And the HUMAN Son of God was made in the IMAGE of the invisible God after the cross and resurrection.

Jude 1:25.
“To the ONLY WISE God our Savior, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.”
And, according to Acts 13:22,23, plus many other verses of Scripture, such as, Acts 5:30,31 and Psalm 89:18-28, it was Yahweh, Almighty God the FATHER, who raised up a Savior from among the PEOPLE.
And, according to Philippians 2:6-11, all of the GLORY goes to Almighty God the FATHER.

And to me, the truth concerning who Jesus TRULY is, according to the Bible ITSELF, is the Biblical Unitarian view of Jesus.
Once Christians, Jews, Muslims, and even atheists understand the REASON that Yahweh CREATED the Son of MAN, Jesus, was to have DOMINION over the work of Yahweh’s hands.
And after you understand that the REASON that Yahweh did that is to STILL His ENEMIES, Satan and the fallen angels.
Then you can understand that God made His human Son to become “a” Lord, “a” King, and “a” God, under and subject to his God and Father in order to JUDGE Satan and the fallen angels.
