The ROCK in a PROPHECY of Jesus Becoming Our Lord and Our God!
***What Does 1 Corinthians 10:4 TRULY mean?
Here is 1 Corinthians 10:4 from the KJV. “And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.”
Does 1 Corinthians 10:4 PROVE that the Son of God pre-existed?
In other words, does this verse of Scripture prove that is Yahweh Himself based upon the KJV translation of Deuteronomy 32:3,4?

It should still be clear that the Messiah published or PROCLAIMED the NAME of Yahweh as the Only Truthful God.
The Rock is speaking of another God as being the WORKMANSHIP of Yahweh.
It was Jesus who lived without INIQUITY!
Clearly, the WORK of the Rock is RIGHTEOUSNESS, which the Rock did THROUGH Yahweh, the Eternal Spirit dwelling in the Rock, according to Hebrews 9:14.
“Deuteronomy 32:3. Because I will publish the NAME of the LORD: ascribe your greatness unto our God. (Speaking of Yahweh’s NEW God who will replace Lucifer, the fallen Elohim)
Deuteronomy 32:4. He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.”
Thus, this is a hidden PROPHECY of the Messiah being our Rock.

Jesus is NOT a LITERAL Lamb, Nor a Literal ROCK!
Some Christians dogmatically teach that, without fail, Jesus PRE-EXISTED as God the Son, the second person of the Trinity.
Other Christians teach that Jesus pre-existed as a separate divine being who was with God at his side named the Word.
But this other divine being named the word was not yet God’s Son.
The Jehovah’s Witness Christians teach that Jesus PRE-EXISTED as an ANGEL, namely Michael the archangel, who then became the Son of MAN and the Son of Almighty God the Father.
And yet, the Mormon Christians teach that Jesus PRE-EXISTED as a SPIRIT being alongside or WITH Almighty God as the Word who was God’s “spirit” child.
And the only Christians who do NOT believe that Jesus literally pre-existed as a separate divine being, who was with God in eternity past, are the Oneness Pentecostal Christians and the Biblical Unitarian Christians.
But what does the WHOLE word of God teach us?
Let us begin this study in God’s word by reading 1 Corinthians 10:4 to refresh our memory as to what it says.
1 Corinthians 10:4.
“And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.”
The argument for literal pre-existence is that the spiritual rock is read about in the Old Testament BEFORE the virgin birth of Jesus.
And since Paul says that THAT Rock WAS Christ then that proves that Jesus pre-existed in eternity past because the only way for Jesus to MANIFEST himself in the Old Testament, as that spiritual Rock, is for him to have literally EXISTED during the Old Testament times.
First of all, the Rock did NOT literally FOLLOW them.
The English word “THEM’ is not in the original Hebrew text.
And the word translated as “FOLLOWED” LITERALLY means to learn as a disciple or follower of a teacher.
So, what the original text is communicating to us is that they were to LEARN from their DRINKING of the literal water from that literal rock, the SPIRITUAL lesson of that SPIRITUAL rock that Yahweh will PROVIDE for them.
In other words, they literally drank literal water from a literal rock to quench their literal thirst.
And the spiritual lesson that they were to learn is that God did not deliver them from bondage of Egypt to die, and that He will provide for their needs.
And the LESSON that we are to learn from this Old Testament FIGURE is that Almighty God the Father PROVIDED the deliverance from bondage by way of His SERVANT Moses.
And the analogy is that Yahweh the Father PROVIDED His Messiah Jesus to deliver us from the bondage of SIN.
God provided the children of Israel with food and water while they were in the wilderness traveling TO the PROMISED land.
It was by the Hand of Moses through the power of God, the ANOINTING, that the literal rock was split open and literal water ran out.
And all who were thirsty, drank from the literal water that came out of the rock by the hand of Moses, or by the ANOINTING of God that was upon Moses.
And the analogy is that by the hand of Jesus, the SPIRITUAL Rock was split open so that the Holy Spirit could be poured out upon all flesh.
So, to ME, Paul is NOT saying that Jesus was that literal Rock in the Old Testament.
NOR is Paul saying that Jesus MANIFESTED himself to become that literal rock in the Old Testament.
Paul was simply giving us an ANALOGY between the water flowing out of the literal rock and Jesus baptizing believers in the Holy Spirit.
Now some Trinitarian Christians interpret this verse to dogmatically mean, without fail, that Jesus PRE-EXISTED in the Old Testament.
They argue that Paul clearly identifies the rock that Moses smote or hit with a stick in the wilderness as BEING CHRIST.
They argue that Paul plainly says, “and THAT Rock WAS Christ”.
And then, they argue that Jesus is THE ALMIGHTY God HIMSELF, because they take other Old Testament verses which clearly and plainly teach us that Almighty God Yahweh Himself is the ROCK.
And thus, they conclude that since Paul says Jesus is the Rock and this other verse says that Almighty God is the ROCK, then that proves that Jesus must, without fail, be THE ALMIGHTY God HIMSELF as God the Son, the second person of the Godhead Trinity.
But again, is this SOUND BIBLICAL teaching based upon the WHOLE word of Almighty God?
For you see, there are verses that say Almighty God is the FATHER and the prophecy in Isaiah 9:6 says that his NAME shall be called the everlasting FATHER.
So then, according to the LOGIC of Trinitarian Christians, since God is called the Father and Jesus is called the Father, then that PROVES that Jesus is the FATHER HIMSELF.
No! That is NOT sound Biblical interpretation of the Scriptures.
As I have said many times that any verse when taken out of context and viewed alone and apart from the whole word of God may SEEM to be saying something that it is not truly saying.
So then, let us read this verse in question being left in the context of where it is found.
Please read 1 Corinthians 10:1-11.
“Moreover, brethren, I would not that you should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;
1 Corinthians 10:2. And were all baptized unto Moses (Some Bible scholars teach that Moses was a type or figure of Jesus Christ and that we as Christians are baptized in Jesus as the people of Israel were baptized unto Moses) in the cloud and in the sea;
1 Corinthians 10:3. And did all eat the same SPIRITUAL meat;
1 Corinthians 10:4. And did all drink the same SPIRITUAL drink: FOR (Or BECAUSE) they drank of that SPIRITUAL Rock (Now, the actual rock that Paul is talking about was a LITERAL rock.
So, Paul is teaching us a SPIRITUAL lesson from these LITERAL things that happened and were written in the Old Testament) that followed them: and that Rock was CHRIST (Speaking of that SPIRITUAL LESSON from that LITERAL rock they were to learn the spiritual lesson that God is WITH them.
One meaning of the word “CHRIST” is the ANOINTING of Almighty God or more specifically the ETERNAL Holy Spirit who DWELT IN Jesus, the SON OF Almighty God the Father.
Whenever you read the word “CHRIST” do not automatically substitute the name Jesus for the word “CHRIST”, because the word Christ is not Jesus' last name.
But rather, this word means that Jesus is the chosen one whom Almighty God the Father DWELT in to empower the Son of MAN to do the works that Yahweh sent His Son to do.

Another meaning for the word “CHRIST” is MESSIAH, the deliverer or the savior.
And certainly THAT ROCK in the Old Testament was used by Almighty God to SAVE the people of Israel from physical death by literally dying from thirst.
They were in a desert. So again, Paul is teaching us a SPIRITUAL lesson or using an ANALOGY.
Paul is not actually saying that Jesus is LITERALLY a ROCK.

1 Corinthians 10:5. But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
1 Corinthians 10:6. Now these things were OUR EXAMPLES, to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.
1 Corinthians 10:7. Neither be you idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play. (Some Christians are faithful to attend church every Sunday to feast on God’s word but then through the week they walk so close to the world that you can hardly tell that they are Christians.
And that is what Paul is teaching us NOT to do. Do NOT be like the Children of Israel who enjoyed God’s provision of food and water and then not obey his Son Jesus)
1 Corinthians 10:8. Neither let us commit fornication, as some of them committed, and fell in one day three and twenty thousand.
1 Corinthians 10:9. Neither let us tempt CHRIST (Speaking of the ANOINTING or more precisely, the ETERNAL SPIRIT, who DWELT in Jesus the SON OF Almighty God and Father and NOW DWELLS in us as believers in Jesus.
You see, the truth of the matter is that Almighty God the eternal Holy Spirit Himself was that one who stood before Moses on the rock that he instructed Moses to strike with the rod of Aaron.
Please read Exodus 17:5,6 “And the LORD (Yahweh or Almighty God the Father Himself) said unto Moses, Go on before the people, and take with you of the elders of Israel; and your rod, wherewith you smote the river, take in your hand, and go.
Exodus 17:6. Behold, I (Yahweh) will stand before you there upon the rock in Horeb; and you shall smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.”
The SPIRITUAL lesson that Paul is teaching us here is that JUST as the PHYSICAL ROCK was SMOTE and gave God’s people WATER to give them physical LIFE to keep them from dying PHYSICALLY.
And thus, JESUS was BROKEN to give us LIVING water unto ETERNAL life.
Also, what Paul is teaching us here is for us NOT to tempt the Holy Spirit, the CHRIST, or the ANOINTING within us) as some of them also tempted (Almighty God the eternal and invisible Spirit that went before them as a pillar of cloud by day and went behind them or followed them as a pillar of fire by night.
In other words, the CHRIST of, or the ANOINTING OF, Almighty God did not DWELL in the people of Israel as he now DWELLS in us as believers in his Son Jesus, but rather, the Holy Spirit was only with them in the wilderness.
But they tempted God saying, “Is the Lord with us or not?”) and were destroyed by serpents.
1 Corinthians 10:10. Neither murmur you, as some of them also murmured, and were destroyed by the destroyer.
1 Corinthians 10:11. Now ALL these things happened unto them for EXAMPLES: and they are written for OUR admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.”
So then, from the CONTEXT, we clearly see that the literal physical rock in the Old Testament was a SPIRITUAL EXAMPLE of a spiritual lesson TEACHING us of the coming of the CHRIST.
Paul is using the literal rock that was BROKEN to let rivers of living water flow out of it as an ANALOGY of the ANOINTED ONE of Almighty God to be our Messiah, our savior, the atonement for our sins.
So, the SPIRITUAL Rock LESSON is that Jesus is our redeemer who was BROKEN in order to cleanse so that we could be given the LIVING WATER of the Holy Spirit to DWELL IN US as believers.
Please read Psalms 34:17-20.
“The righteous cry, and the LORD hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles.
Psalm 34:18. The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a BROKEN heart; and saves such as be of a contrite spirit.
Psalm 34:19. Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivers him out of them all.
Psalm 34:20. He keeps all his bones: NOT ONE of them is broken.”
Paul was not just comparing that physical rock as the only EXAMPLE written for us but ALL these things HAPPENED unto God's people FOR OUR EXAMPLES and OUR admonition.
Paul is NOT saying that Jesus himself PRE-EXISTED as that physical rock any more than Jesus pre-existed as a literal physical LAMB that was literally ALREADY slain from before the foundation of the world in the MIND and PLAN of God, BEFORE any lambs were ever created.
Everything written in the Old Testament that refers to Jesus is either a PROPHECY, a TYPE, a FIGURE, or a ANALOGY that were written for our EXAMPLE to know who the Messiah is when he came.
Again, the verses in the Old Testament that SEEM to be teaching that Jesus pre-existed to manifest himself in some form such as the rock, the burning bush, and the angel of the LORD are TYPES, SHADOWS, and FIGURES that are PROPHECIES foretelling of the coming of Jesus to be the Messiah or the Savior, whom Almighty God Himself would raise up from AMONG the PEOPLE.
To say this another way, Jesus preexisted in the words of PROPHECY, as the LOGOS of God, the SAYING of God, the SPOKEN word of God written down by men of old.
And that “word” of God is PROPHECY foretelling us of his coming into existence where he never existed before EXCEPT WITHIN Almighty God as God’s thoughts and desires to bring forth into existence.
The Lamb was slain BEFORE the foundation of this AGE.
Therefore, the things HAPPENED in the Old Testament were WRITTEN for our example and for our admonition or WARNING.
Again, to ME, the only way that Jesus pre-existed was in the FORM of God's LOGOS, the SAYING of God or the SPOKEN WORD of God that was PROPHESIED and written down by men of old.
These prophecies were WRITTEN in the word of God speaking of the yet future COMING of Jesus as the CHRIST.
Not one single prophecy in the Old Testament prophecies even remotely teaches us of a literal pre-existing Jesus.
There are NO prophecies of the Son of God coming down out of heaven as the SON of God to become the Son of MAN but yet remain to be fully God in the flesh.
Yes, there are some verses in both the Old and New Testament that SEEM to be saying that Jesus pre-existed, but I assure you that there are other ways to interpret every one of the verses of Scripture.
For you see, it is the WAY that these verses are translated and INTERPRETED as to why they SEEM to be saying something that they are not truly saying if they were CORRECTLY interpreted in the LIGHT of the WHOLE word of Almighty God.
So, I implore you my dear brothers and sisters in our Lord Jesus Christ, to THINK these verses through for yourself.
Have an open heart and mind to hear the WHOLE matter. For you see, IF SO BE that Jesus PRE-EXISTED in some literal form whether his form be as the Son of Almighty God being a so-called God the Son, second person of the Trinity. Or whether it be that Jesus pre-existed as an ANGEL.
Or whether it be that Jesus pre-existed as some divine eternal SPIRIT being called the WORD who was WITH God being alongside God.
Then that would contradict that verse of Scripture that clearly teaches us that God was ALONE and BY HIMSELF when He alone and by Himself created all things.
Please read Isaiah 44:24.
“Thus says the LORD, your redeemer, and He that formed you from the womb, I am the LORD that makes all things; that stretches forth the heavens ALONE; that spreads abroad the earth BY MYSELF;”
The only reason Christians interpret verses of Scripture to mean that Jesus pre-existed in eternity past is to try and make Jesus be Almighty God Himself because that Old Testament clearly teaches us that there is but ONE God.
But yet, in the New Testament Jesus is called God by his God and Father in Hebrews 1:8,9.
In other words, the God of Jesus ANOINTED the Son of MAN to be above his FELLOWS who will be JOINT-HEIRS WITH Jesus to rule and reign as Gods of the whole earth for 1000 years during the AGE to come.
Please read Hebrews 1:8,9.
“But unto the Son He says, Your throne, O God, (Or your throne, THE God) is for ever and ever: a scepter of righteousness is the scepter of your kingdom.
Hebrews 1:9. You have loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; THEREFORE (Or for this REASON that you OBEYED all my WILL and you have walked in righteousness, hating evil) God, EVEN YOUR God, has ANOINTED you with the oil of GLADNESS above your fellows.”
So then, WHAT happened to the church to DEPART from the doctrine of the Apostles of Jesus?
Well, way back in the third-century Christians began debating on how BOTH the Father AND His Son can be God seeing that there is just ONE God in the Old Testament.
The Oneness Christians came up with their theory that the ONE God is ONE person manifested Himself in different modes.
And they WRONGLY teach that Jesus is the Father, as in a MANIFESTATION OF the Father so that the invisible God can be SEEN.
And the Trinitarian Christians came up with their theory that since Jesus is clearly seen as a SEPARATE person FROM the Father then the ONE God must be made up of three SEPARATE persons.
And yet, other Christians believed that there were only TWO separate beings and that Jesus was [a] God under and subject to his God and Father.
Today these Christains are called BIBLICAL Unitarians.

Now, I myself, believe that Jesus is [a] God who was created BY the ONE true God Yahweh the Father and that the ONE TRUE God is ONE God in ONE person.
In other words, God first created a HUMAN Son in the womb of the Virgin Mary.
God then ANOINT His human Son at his baptism and SENT him into the world.
Then AFTER God’s anoint human Son learned OBEDIENCE even to die on the cross, then the God of Jesus HIGHLY EXALTED the Son of MAN to BECOME a King, a Lord, and a God for 1000 years during the world to come.
When I read the PROPHECIES of the coming Messiah, I simply see the ORDER in which the EVENTS of prophecy are prophesied.
And then, I compare the prophecies in the Old Testament with the FULFILLMENT of the prophecies in the New Testament.
Every Christian knows about the TWO comings of Jesus, but I do not know how many Christians have noticed that in some passages of Scripture BOTH comings are in the SAME prophecy.
So, if you did NOT know about the TWO separate comings of Jesus, then you might confuse the two comings as just one coming.
That is one reason why the Jews missed seeing their Messiah suffering and dying on the cross at the FIRST coming of Jesus.
So, as you read Isaiah 9:6,7 please notice the ORDER in which the events are PROPHESIED.
And NOTICE that it will be at the TIME that the GOVERNMENT is laid upon his shoulders that his NAME shall be called the Mighty God.
And Hebrews 1:4 says that the Son OBTAINED a NAME more excellent that the angels by INHERITANCE.
Isaiah 9:6,7.
“For (Order of event #1 that has already been FULFILLED) unto us, a CHILD is BORN, (THEN comes Order of event #2 that has also already been FULFILLED) unto us a son is given: (Speaking of the HUMAN Son of MAN, Jesus was given as the ONE sacrifice for the sins of the world) and (And THEN Order of event #3 is YET FUTURE and it is YET TO BE FULFILLED) the government shall be upon his shoulder: and ( And THEN will come Order of event #4 is YET FUTURE and it is YET TO BE FULFILLED WHEN the government will be set upon the shoulder of Jesus in the world to come) his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, (Or more precisely, the Father or the AUTHOR of eternal life, as in, BECAUSE OF Jesus obeying his God and Father, Jesus made it possible for whosoever believes in him shall be saved.
For you see, the Son of MAN, Jesus, was GIVEN the authority and the power to JUDGE and give eternal life to whomsoever he chooses.
This is why Psalms 2 prophesies to kiss the feet of God’s Son whom He ordained to be his King of kings and Lord of lords) The Prince of Peace. (And, according to Revelation 1:5, Jesus is our Prince right now standing at the right hand of God.
But at his second coming, Jesus will SIT at the right hand of Yahweh to rule and reign FOR Yahweh as the Lord of the Sabbath.
And at that time the kingdoms of this present world will become the kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ. And…)
Isaiah 9:7. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even forever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.”
So then, according to the PROPHECIES, the child was born FIRST, THEN the Son of MAN was GIVEN as God’s lamb slain from before the foundation of the world.
And THEN, in the world or AGE yet to come, the now HIGHLY EXALTED Son of MAN, Jesus will be CALLED the mighty God by TITLE of by NAME.
And he who will rule FOR Yahweh and in the NAME of Yahweh for 1000 years.
And then, after 1000 years, Jesus will step down from ruling and commit the ruling of the kingdom BACK into the hands of his God and Father so that God will be all and in all.

“When everything and everyone is finally under God’s rule, the Son will step down, taking his place with everyone else, showing that God’s rule is absolutely comprehensive - a perfect ending!”

I assure you that every verse that SEEMS to be saying that Jesus pre-existed in eternity past has another meaning that does NOT contradict any other verses of Scripture in the entire Bible.

Once Christians, Jews, Muslims, and even atheists understand the REASON that Yahweh CREATED the Son of MAN, Jesus, was to have DOMINION over the work of Yahweh’s hands.
And after you understand that the REASON that Yahweh did that is to STILL His ENEMIES, Satan and the fallen angels.
Then you can understand that God made His human Son to become “a” Lord, “a” King, and “a” God, under and subject to his God and Father in order to JUDGE Satan and the fallen angels.
