Voted to Remove Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton from Office

On September 16, 2023 the Texas State Senate voted to acquit Attorney General Ken Paxton of all 16 charges brought up against him by the Texas House of Representatives. The Texas State House of Representatives had voted overwhelmingly to impeach Paxton, with 70% of Republicans voting in favor of  the charges. The impeachment effort was lead by State Rep. Dade Phelan. There was no evidence that AG Ken Paxton had done anything wrong, but many Republicans still wanted to remove Paxton from office for supporting President Trump and being one of the only Republicans fighting for conservative values. Paxton is one of the Bush's worst enemies. He defeated George P. Bush in 2022 in the Republican primary. Only two Republicans Senators (State Sen. Kelly Hancock and State Sen. Robert Nichols) voted in favor of the some of the charges. These two Republicans voted with most Democrats for the charges. Even when five Democrats voted against "ARTICLE 8: DISREGARD OF OFFICIAL DUTY," Robert Nichols voted in favor of the charge.
