Voted in Favor of a Mileage Tax in Texas (TX HB3418)
Texas HB3418 is a Democrat bill that seeks to tax drivers based on how far their vehicles drive on public highways in Texas. The bill passed the Texas House with immense Republican support. Thirty-six (36) Republicans voted for the bill, while forty-six Republicans voted against the bill. Four Republicans either abstained from voting or were absent. The bill states, “diesel and gas taxes are a major source of revenue for the construction and maintenance of Texas roads. There are many promising technologies on the horizon suggesting that the traveling public will see an increase in alternatively fueled vehicles on Texas roads.” This is very unconservative. First, it establishes a tax, which conservatives are supposed to be against. Second, it violates the privacy of Texans because trackers will most likely have to be installed on the vehicles of Texans. Read this article to find out more about the bill.
