Voted Against Increasing the Penalty for Committing Voter Fraud (TX HB1243)

Texas HB1243 increases the penalty for people who vote illegally. Voting illegally is a “felony of the second degree unless the person is convicted of an attempt, in which event it is a state jail felony.” Almost every Democrat voted against the bill and one Republican voted against the bill. Two Republicans abstained from voting, and two other Republicans were absent when the vote was taking place on the bill.
