Voted Against Impeaching Sec. Alejandro Mayorkas (Second/Third Impeachment Vote)

On February 6, 2024 the House of Representatives voted on impeaching Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas for the second time. In November last year the House voted on impeaching Mayorkas, but the impeachment vote failed due to eight Republicans voting against it. The vote failed once again because four Republicans voted against impeaching the Secretary. Republicans are seeking to impeach Secretary Mayorkas over his role in the Biden Administration's border invasion, which has allowed millions of illegal immigrants to come over the border illegally, ignoring Federal laws that are already in place. The vote failed 214-216. Representative Blake Moore originally voted for impeachment, but changed his vote to allow for the bill to be reintroduced next week. Rep. Mike Gallagher (WI-08), Rep. Ken Buck (CO-04), and Rep. Tom McClintock (CA-05) also voted against impeachment. They chose not to hold Secretary Mayorkas accountable for refusing to enforce Federal law. Rep. Steve Scalise chose not to vote on the resolution.

On February 13, 2024 the impeachment resolution was reintroduced in the House of Representatives. It passed by one vote (214-213). Once more Representatives Ken Buck, Mike Gallagher, and Tom McClintock voted against the resolution.
