Comment by Michael Long: Note the Pontiac sign there in the distance. At the time West Burnside was sort of auto row with auto related businesses extending a block off Burnside in places. With the Firestone Dealership closing the only remainder of that era is the Jim Fisher Volvo dealership on West Burnside. ...[David Campbell was] a Portland Fire Chief who died in the line of duty.
Comment by Bob Clay: ...it appears the lettering on the streetcar is “WH.” Could that be “Willamette Heights?”
Comment by Peter Pimentel: Seems that I remember reading that Ron Tonkin's Uncle Lester was a car dealer in these parts and that's essentially how he started. Of course, they were shady on some levels beyond the hardly-regulated car sales industry in the early days. *Portland Confidential by Phil Stanford
Comment by Tim Knight: I wonder how many times the traffic signal on the concrete pedestal in the middle of Burnside got hit before they replaced with a signal above the street?
