For many purposes, I've divided the Columbia River Highway into three sections, the Lower Highway, these pages, from Seaside to Portland, the Upper Highway, from The Dalles to Pendleton, and the very famous middle highway, which I refer to as the HISTORIC Columbia River Highway, mostly due to the recognition that name for the middle Gorge section brings.
However, this does not mean that the entire highway isn't historic, far from it!
A few days ago I was ducking into these pages to add a few photos to what I once thought was a relatively mundane piece of the highway and ended up falling into days worth of fascinating research here, and the resulting hours and hours of website building to share it all with you, all due to a few lines of writing and a couple of blurry photos I found when just scratching the surface of the history here.
