Pukara-sa Today

Today, this old Okinawan home has a new role.

It is now Pukara-sa — a private guesthouse for one group at a time.

We did not want to turn the house into a modern hotel.

Instead, we wanted to preserve what makes an old Okinawan home special.

The tatami.

The wooden floors.

The traditional roof.

The open spaces that welcome the breeze.

The sounds of birds in the morning.

The quiet of the village at night.

There are things here that cannot be found in an ordinary hotel.

And there are also things that are intentionally simple.

There is no air conditioning in the guest rooms.

Instead, we invite our guests to open the windows, feel the natural breeze, and experience the wisdom built into traditional Okinawan architecture.

For us, Pukara-sa is more than a place to stay.

It is a chance to step away from the usual rhythm of modern life and spend one night in an old Okinawan home.

One night.
One old house.
One story to take home.

That is the story of Pukara-sa.
