Episode 1
One day, while visiting a traditional Okinawan house at Ryukyu Mura, I sat down for a moment.
A gentle breeze passed through the house.
There was nothing special happening.
No air conditioning.
No luxurious furniture.
No modern entertainment.
Just the shade of the house, the breeze, and the quiet surroundings.
Yet somehow, it felt deeply comfortable.
I began to wonder:
What is it about these old Okinawan houses that makes them feel so good?
That simple question stayed with me.
As I learned more about traditional Okinawan homes, I discovered that they were not simply old buildings.
Their architecture reflected Okinawa's climate, culture, beliefs, and ways of living.
The way the house welcomed the wind.
The shade created by the eaves.
The relationship between the house and the garden.
The materials, the layout, and the wisdom passed down through generations.
Little by little, I became fascinated by the world hidden inside these old houses.
And eventually, that fascination would lead to Pukara-sa.
But that is another story.
