The Holiday Hills are currently CLOSED!
Every couple of months, a strange Sawsbuck by the name of Chronos appears in Ethovalon for just a month's time to bring to the residents of the town and the GCSF a little holiday spirit. Chronos shows up in October, January, April, and July to spread some holiday cheer to all those who wish to partake!
Chronos uses his mysterious powers to bring up a giant hill on the outskirts of the town and create a plaza inside as well as an entire dungeon depending on the month's theme! This dungeon has been dubbed Holiday Hills by the people who live in Ethovalon. Members can gather the event-currency Candy to buy special, themed Potions, find Holiday Variants, and unique unlockables as well! Chronos is known for his extravagant parties and generous gifts... it may be worth checking it out!
❄️ In January is the Winter Holiday Hills. This event sometimes doubles as holiday/winter theme! Winter themed prompts are able to be completed and a snowy dungeon is able to be explored! Chronos will also often host glamorous galas in honor of the winter season!
🌸 In April is the Spring Holiday Hills. Much like the others, there's a spring-themed dungeon and prompts to complete - if you're lucky, you may even be invited to a Feast of Fools or other festivity befitting the time!
☀️ In July is the Summer Holiday Hills were members can explore a summer-themed dungeon, and complete prompts based around the sunniest-season! Sometimes, there will be summer festivals or Secret Santas in July, so keep an eye out!
🎃 In October is the Halloween Holiday Hills. Members get to explore a spooky-themed dungeon full of ghosts and strange happenings. Complete Halloween themed prompts and perhaps even join in on activities like a costume party hosted by none other than Chronos himself!
In Holiday Hills, you will always succeed in your outings in the dungeons. Due to this, your characters won't gain any levels nor can you use any items. However, while exploring the dungeons, you may run into special Variant Pokemon that tie into the theme of the specific dungeon!
Variant Pokemon swap out each season, so if you see a recruit you really want, best to get it during that month! You can also find several regular Pokemon these dungeons that fit the theme. Some are just as rare as Variants while others appear in other dungeons!
If you do miss a Holiday Hills and wish to acquire a Variant from the event, don't worry! You're able to apply a Seasonal Potion to a recruit of the same species to get a Variant of your desired design!
With every Holiday Hills that comes and goes, Chronos enjoys hosting great parties and everyone is invited to partake in the festivities!
His Holiday Mansion is where these parties are hosted! Strangely enough, people don't revert to their feral forms when they're at this mansion or the surrounding area. However, if they leave the area and head towards the dungeon, they revert to their feral forms!
Snacks are provided for everyone, drinks for those of age, and a grand hall for people to dance the night away. Lounges are provided for people who want to take a break from the festivities as well as an outdoor foyer. It gets cold in the winter especially, so be sure to dress appropriately!
Holiday Hills Dungeons, much like regular ones, are completed in feral form only!
+50 Candy | Per Character Shown
(up to a maximum 7 characters, valued at +350c)
+50 Candy | Shaded Background
+0 Candy | Unshaded Background
Holiday Hills Tasks, much like regular ones, are completed in gijinka/humanoid form only!
+100 Candy | Per Character Shown
+150 Candy | Simple Background
+250 Candy | Complex Background
A minimum of 500 words must be written to get Candy from your submission!
+150 Candy | Per 500 words
(min. 500 words; anything below 500 will not give you any candy)
For writing, you must have a minimum of 500 words written and there is no upper limit how much Candy you can earn from a single written submission!
For artwork, there is no upper limit on how many characters can count towards rewards in a single non-dungeon piece and no difference between shaded or flat-colored characters. However, there are a few restrictions in regards to what does and does not count as a "shown" character!
For a character to count towards Candy rewards, they need to have some sort of identifiable features!
For example, a character will not count towards rewards if they are shown in one of these ways (or similarly):
❌ only an arm, leg, tail, etc. is shown in-frame
* If only a head/face is shown, it may be considered valid depending on the level of detail!
❌ heavily simplified or greatly lacking detail
* Examples may include characters being far away and simplified, or characters as part of a crowd being simplified.
❌ only appearing as a silhouette
If you're unsure about whether a character should count towards grading, you can ask about it in the #questions channel!
Poké rewards are based on the non-dungeon grading totals, which you can find at Earnings & Inventories.
When recruiting a Variant you encountered in a Holiday Hills Dungeon, you are allowed to use other Potions on the recruit after a set amount of time.
After 3 months have passed since the Holiday Hills in which you received the recruit, you may use any Potion on them to change their design if you would like.
That said, out of respect for the Variant designers, we highly encourage members to not use Holiday Hills as a place to encounter recruits with the intention of not using them in their Seasonal designs. This rule is primarily in place for those who may end up wanting to go a different direction with a character they received from Holiday Hills several months down the line.
Grading for Holiday Hills submissions works identically to grading for regular dungeons and tasks. The only difference is that there are dedicated graders for Holiday Hills, which can be found below. Functionally, these graders work exactly like their regular counterparts and will reward Candy upon submitting.
The Holiday Hills graders will restrict your access if Holiday Hills is not currently active or if it's past the extensions period.
