Get Started Today With Pigeon Farming...
I have decided to try a simple pigeon farming. I will start with a few pairs of young pigeons and see how it goes. My plan is to keep the birds in a large, covered aviary at the back of my garden. The aviary will be covered with netting to stop the birds escaping and predator attacks.
I will raise my pigeons from chicks, buying day-old pigeons from a breeder. The pigeons will have plenty of room to fly around and exercise in the aviary. They will eat specially formulated pigeon food that I buy from a supplier.
I will breed my pigeons four times a year. After about six weeks, when the chicks are weaned, I will sell them as pets, or to other pigeon fanciers for racing or showing. I'll sell any surplus birds as meat birds.
I'm not sure yet if this hobby can be turned into a profitable business, but I am willing to give it a try.
