Get Started Today With Pigeon Farming...
A little over a year ago I read an article about a man in Uganda who was successfully farming pigeons and making a good income. I was impressed by the article and decided I would like to set up a pigeon farm of my own. I was not sure how to go about starting a farm in Uganda, but I put it on my list of things to do when visiting. When a friend invited me to visit him in Kampala, Uganda, I knew it was time for me to make my dream come true.
Over the past month, I have traveled throughout Uganda and learned everything there is to know about pigeon farming. You might think that setting up a pigeon farm was easy - after all, pigeons are everywhere! But there is much more to it than you might think.
I began my journey by traveling to the capital city of Kampala and meeting with Professor Mugisha at Makerere University. Professor Mugisha has spent many years researching pigeon farms in Uganda and knows everything there is to know about our friends in the sky.
Pigeon farming in Uganda has been a very successful project. The project has been able to elevate the lives of many people who were once classified as poor, not only in the rural areas but also in the urban. The demand for pigeon farming has since grown because of a number of reasons that include nutrition, beauty and business.
Pigeon meat is one of the most eaten meats in Uganda, and it is a large market. Many people love pigeon meat due to its unique taste. Pigeons are fed on natural food items such as wheat and corn which makes their meat free from chemicals hence healthy for human consumption. This therefore creates an opportunity for farmers to start pigeon farming for business purposes.
