Get Started Today With Pigeon Farming...
Pigeons are very hard to raise. They need very little food and lots of water. Pigeons have a natural instinct to fly away, so you have to have a cage with a roof on it. The roof needs to be made from wire or some other material that the pigeons cannot chew through. Pigeons like to gather in groups and make lot of noise, so use mats to line the floor of the cage.
The pigeon food is called "pigeon feed". You can get this at most pet stores. It is usually made out of corn and oats, but you may find other ingredients in your bird seed such as millet and sunflower seeds. If you can't find pigeon feed, you can buy bird seed instead. This is usually cheaper than pigeon feed, but it has different ingredients in it, which may not be good for your pigeons. If you are keeping your pigeons in a small cage, then they will not eat much food anyway, so bird seed may work just as well as pigeon feed.
Pigeons like to be warm, so if it gets too cold outside you should keep them inside near a heater or radiator. You should also provide them with a place where they can hide from the rain and snow.
Before you decide to raise pigeons, you need to know that there are many different breeds. The most common one is known as the Rock Pigeon. These pigeons are descendants of the rock dove and have been domesticated for thousands of years. Breeding these birds can be fun and very rewarding.
