How Do You Raise Homing Pigeons

Raising homing pigeons is a hobby that has been practiced for thousands of years. Homing pigeons have a natural instinct to return to their own home, and this makes them very convenient pets. It is probably the simplest bird to keep among all birds, but it comes with the added benefit that you can send it off on different adventures if you so desire. There are many different races of homing pigeons, such as the English trumpeter pigeon and the Saxon pigeon. A good race will offer you more enjoyment than a lesser race, so make sure to choose one that will be fun for you to own.

*Feed your bird only healthy food. Pigeons need protein in their diet, so it is important to feed them some sort of meat, like cooked rice and beans or other cooked grains. You should also avoid anything that contains corn or wheat, as these contain carcinogens that can harm your bird's health in the long run.*

How do you raise homing pigeons?

The first time I asked myself this question, it was because I had a homing pigeon that needed raising. Or rather, I was the recipient of a homing pigeon someone else had raised, but who'd tired of it and given it to me. The bird's name was Pigeon.

I was fifteen at the time, in my second year at boarding school. It's hard to explain why I went to boarding school, or why anyone does. My father had gone to boarding school, as did his father before him; both my parents had gone to college prep schools far from home because they thought that would be good for them. They wanted the same for me, and so I went to boarding school too.
