Darkness. That's all there is when you just died. Darkness, and cold. Like you're in a cave deep in the earth, naked, freezing. Nothing to warm you up, no sounds, no smells. Just nothing. You can't even think properly, like time just stands still. Even though you know you'll come back to life later. At this moment you know nothing.
This isn't how death normally is though. But this is a unique case. You see, Jennifer Lionheart, or Jen as her friends call her, is becoming a Lich. From the moment of the ritual, she will never die like a normal soul. She'll be in the darkness, the cold, the cave. Whereas others will follow a river to their next life, wherever it may be.
But for now, she's gonna wake up. As a Lich, Jen wakes up where her phylactery is. Fadoran left it at the shrine where they did the ritual in the first place. Meaning it was still dark, but no longer cold. There were sounds and smells. She could think again, move again. Her body looked more like a corpse than ever. She still looks like a young Human girl, just one that has been dead for a while. But the power though, the power inside her is amazing. The combined powers of a Banshee, a Val'Kyr, and a Lich. Not to forget the little addition of her Skinwalker side. With all this power she could do so much. Raise an army, make them sentient, possess who she wants. So many options. And she had a goal too. Reclaim her heritage, her birthright.
So first things first, talk with Fadoran. After that, I should go find the Fellowship. Jen thought to herself, and so she went towards the library, trying to find him. She could hear the sad tunes of a violin playing beautifully in the background. On her way to the library, she sees Ellian. Which foreshadows something bad. She had sent Ellian to her friends to protect them and keep an eye on them while she was gone. But if he was here, where were they?
"Ellian!" Ellian turned around to her. He scratches his head, and places his sword in mid-air, letting it float. "Why are you here? What happened?"
"Well, it's kind of a long story, but the thing is -"
"Yes?" Jen interrupts Ellian.
"Well they are all dead, I think."
"What do you mean DEAD!" Jen screams out. How could all her friends be dead just like that? She's gone for two days, just two days and they are all dead? "No that can't be!" Were it not for the lack of gravity, Jen would've fallen to her knees. "No." she starts to softly cry. "What did you do?! What happened?!"
Ellian starts to calmly explain, even for the situation, he was remarkably calm. "We were ambushed, Zaralenn blew herself up and killed everyone safe for me and Xerion in the process. I couldn't resurrect either of them, so then Xerion killed himself. He didn't want to live alone without his twin."
"No..." This can't be, I just started to feel like I belonged, like I had friends, a family even maybe. "I..." I don't know what to say, she thinks sighing out loud "Well that changes my plans then. But I will go on." Jen looks at Ellian again. "Do you know where Fadoran and Aldor are?"
"Father should be inside," Ellian says, "but I don't know where Aldor is, ask Rhowar, he's in there with father."
"Alright, thank you." Jen nods at Ellian and floats away towards the library. Inside she finds Fadoran and Rhowar studying a strange lady. She looks like an Elf, but she has fur like a dog, fangs and claws, dim glowing eyes, large ears, and weird-looking legs, oh and she's naked, which was probably the least surprising thing about the Elf. She approaches the two but does not speak.
"Ah, Jennifer, you are back once again. It was about time." Fadoran says with a cold and almost judging voice, as if Jen took too long reviving.
