See: Endellion Nye, Windstep Monks
Endellion Nye (21) was born in a Human town, 1/17/10681, Whitmoor. A close-knit community, not averse to strangers, but mostly keeping to themselves. Especially after Endellion's mother, Ryla Nye, returned pregnant, scared and with long-kept secrets. Two months later, Ryla gave birth, and the Sky Elf Human hybrid was brought into this world. Neither Ryla nor the townsfolk knew what to expect from a hybrid, never having encountered one themselves, but were shocked to see that Endellion was born with small, black wings on her back, and unusually pale skin. Even though the town itself is family, Ryla never told them who the father is, except the fact he's a Sky Elf.
Being born like this, Endellion grew up sheltered. Hidden and stowed away when strangers came to visit the town and never allowed to go past the town walls. It suited her fine because she did grow up loved, accepted in the community, and with lots of friends. She grew up curious, and with a desire to fly (which is half her inherited genes), but never being able to. Her wings are useless. They grew as she grew, but weak. She'll never be able to fly.
After years passed, the picked up bits and pieces of her mother's worries, but she'd already learned to give up asking about the other half of her heritage. But with the years, came the desire to leave the town. While she loved her town, she also wanted to see what's beyond the walls. Beyond what she knows. She'll never be able to spread her wings literally, but figuratively would be just as good, right? But whenever she brought it up, her mother would shut her down.
When she was almost 16 she had a hook up and a short relationship with Jen, until Endellion was sent away later on.
Not long after her sixteenth birthday, strangers came to visit the town. Being curious, and dying to know more about the world beyond the walls, she approached them on a whim, catching them alone. Of course, she'd been warned about strangers not likely to be so accepting like the community, but not all people are bad, right? And they weren't.
She had the most amazing conversation with those travelers as they told tales about their adventures, adding fuel to the fire of her own desire to leave. Less than two days later, Sky Elves came to town at night. That's all Endellion knows because her mother was quick to yank her into the dark forests. They argued, yelling at each other. Endellion wanted to return, learn more about herself, but her mother begged her not to. It wouldn't be safe. They would never accept her as she is. She'd die.
"Then cut the wings off and let me go!" Endellion doesn't know what surprised her more: the fact that she'd meant those words, or her mother actually abiding by them. With an elven made dagger, her black wings were cut and torn from her back. Cauterized with that same dagger as it caught fire. Her screams echoing through the forests, joined by the distant voices of their Sky Elven visitors.
Endellion passed out, waking up a few days later alone with a caravan of merchants with only a letter from her mother remaining. They'd been paid to take care of her, and get her to her destination safely: a temple. The letter was a goodbye, telling her to remain hidden, to be safe, and to never return. Even more isolated than before, Endellion was dropped in the middle of nowhere, where she was picked up by a monk.
They arrived at a temple high in the mountains three days later. Here she was nursed back to good health, and though reluctant at first, she decided to stay. Knowing that these people could help her become stronger, so one day she'd be brave enough to return to her town, her mother, and possibly confront her father at the City in the Sky. She learned the ways of the windstep master monks, quite easily as even though she'd never gotten to fly, she'd always been light of foot. At the temple, when basic training is over, the young monks are sent on quests to truly learn how to develop themselves as a monk.
After training for five years, Endellion has been given the quest to return with the feathers of the birds representing the wind directions. With high hopes, she left on her quest. In which she ends up sidetracked a lot because she's finally out in the world. And what a shame it would be if she'd miss out on something, right?
Long, red, windswept hair, usually tied down into a messy braid. She has green eyes, slightly pointed ears, and very pale skin. She's toned and muscly because of her training, and about average human height. Her usual outfit consists out of airy, easy pants, tight shirts (fully covering her back), cloth wrappings around her hands, and sturdy leather boots. Notable: two large scars along her shoulder blades and back.
