What is The Truth of The Corruption in African Aid Distribution?
Crisis between African Union and the United Kingdom recently encountered a worldwide scale. Corruption is involved here as the United Kingdom is stopping its plan to give future foreign aid to African countries as the previous aid was not distributed towards the people. This crisis is massive as in these desperate times of Covid-19 Pandemic, developing countries in Africa do need these aids for their people. However, the issue is in the distribution itself and the allegation of corruption for African countries in question.
Though countries have proposed several ideas to combat the issue with solutions such as how South Africa proposed better coalitions between African Union and the United Kingdom. The main issue of corruption is still in question. There is no specific clarification as to how and why the distribution of these aids were not accepted by the people. Several countries such as Zimbabwe, South Africa, and Kenya revealed that corruption does happen in their countries. But previously on the second Committee Session, Zimbabwe mentioned that we should not keep on highlighting corruption as the main issue of misuse of foreign aids. Yet, the state of corruption by African countries in this case is still a huge possibility. With that, it gives a revelation that corruption does take an important role in the misuse of foreign aids. The United Kingdom would have made several investigations to make such a drastic move. However, the truth has not been revealed by the countries themselves. Then what does the future hold to those in need of this aid? More importantly, what is the truth behind these allegations towards African countries?
As of now, corruption in this case is still a possibility, but for the United Kingdom to make such an assertive decision to stop its providence of aid towards African countries, there must be massive reasons behind the curtain, whether it is corruption or other diversions.
