Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC) is an international organization mandated to promote three important aspects of sustainable development, which are economic, social, and environmental. Beside that, relating to the current global pandemic outbreak, ECOSOC also conducted a Forum on Financing for Development (FfD Forum) mandated to lay the framework of financing flows in response to COVID-19.
Since the nineteenth century, foreign aid has already taken its place in the international realm. But with the emergence of COVID-19, foreign aid has become more crucial now than ever. Amidst the global pandemic, it is impossible for countries, especially the developing and least developed ones, to survive without receiving help from the international realm. However, several cases on the misuse of pandemic relief funds have been found despite its important role in helping countries to survive in this devastating condition. These misused aids furthermore obstruct the good deed of the foreign aid, making it impossible for countries to grant access to basic human rights for their populations in the middle of the pandemic.
