What is the Muscular System?
The muscular system helps the body move. Muscles are strong body parts that can get longer and shorter. Different muscles move different parts of the body. Other types of muscles keep your body's organs working.
Parts of the Muscular System
Most muscles are made of lots of stretchy fibers. Fibers are long, thin parts like rubber bands. Fibers make your muscles stronger. Tendons connect muscles to bones. Tendons are strong bands of tissue.
How Does the Muscular System Work?
Most muscles work in pairs. One muscle contracts when the other muscle relaxes. This action causes a part of the body to move. Muscles grow stronger when they are used.
Working Together
Many muscles in the body work together. Small muscles in your hands help you draw. Big muscles in the arms and back work together. They help you climb.
