West, Matthew

Geography is in everything we do!

Matt has been practicing geography “officially” for the better part of 15 years, since his completion of a BA in Geography from Kutztown University. Building upon his love of geography and urban form, Matt completed a Master’s degree in Community & Regional Planning from Temple University.

Matt is currently employed full-time at the Philadelphia region’s Metropolitan Planning Organization as a Senior Transportation Planner. The focus of his work is on transportation operations management, with an interest in utilizing technology, such as geographic information systems (GIS), to foster better intra-regional cooperation amongst member governments.

Teaching geography has become one of Matt’s passions. In addition to developing and teaching the online sections of World Geography at Northampton Community College, he can be found on-campus at Montgomery County Community College teaching Cultural Geography and at Kutztown University teaching Geographic Information Systems.

Matt, his wife, and their three young boys currently reside in Lansdale, PA.
