Byrne, Kim

Kim Dabilis Byrne joins Northampton Community College with 20 years management, administrative and teaching experience. She enjoys teaching as much as she enjoys learning, always looking for ways to improve all aspects of the education experience.

As former associate director and director of distance education programs, Ms. Byrne understands the student-centered pedagogical approach to online learning. She hired, trained and evaluated faculty, conducted train-the-trainer workshops in-person and online from a distance. She enjoyed her travels nationwide to promote her passion of online education. From an internal perspective, Kim was instrumental in transitioning campus-based services and programs online while ensuring quality to serve all those served. She managed grievance and disciplinary issues and worked with internal and external constituents to manage exponential growth of a new program.

Ms. Byrne contributed to the college community in various capacities; including the Distance Education Advisory Council, Human Resource Committee, Accreditation Self-Study Committee, and the Classification Advisory Committee. She also worked in various other higher education administrative positions, serving the undergraduate and graduate Dean, Career Development Center and Learning Center. She is proud of her entrepreneurial spirit and “out-of-box/get rid of the box” thinking. Ms. Byrne co-coordinated an annual conference at Suffolk Law School and presented on the topic of “Aligning Resources to Balance Institutional Needs”. She attributes her success to persistence with a ‘can do’ attitude, having a strong team and solid communication skills.

When she is not busy teaching and learning, Kim enjoys time with her husband, four children and three grandchildren. She currently lives and teaches from Southwest Florida and serves on the public school’s School Advisory Council.
