While I am an instructor, I see myself as a guide, a coach, and a facilitator of our collective learning. We bring different backgrounds, experiences, and goals to this course and I hope we can utilize our diversity to expand our perspectives. At present, in addition to teaching sociology at Northampton, I teach sociology at Reading Area Community College (RACC) and Penn State Berks; as well as Adult Development with Immaculata University and Organizational Behavior at Albright College. I am also a transfer specialist at RACC, in which my job duties included evaluating incoming transcripts and helping RACC students facilitate their transition to four-year institutions.
Furthermore, I am a trainer of faculty and staff members in Angel Learning Management Software utilization. My bachelor’s degree is in Communications from Shepherd University, Master’s in Human Services from Lincoln University, and my doctorate is in Education, with a concentration in Postsecondary and Adult Education from Capella University, an accredited online university. I am available at virtually anytime during the day via email at jjohnson@northampton.edu or text message at 484-794-0179. You may call me also, but the best way to reach me is via email or text. I will typically respond to these modes of communications within 24-48 hours if not sooner. I look forward to working with you all this semester!
