OnlineAdjuncts - Chiles, Eric

For more than 30 years I worked for The Morning Call where I was the national editor, where I supervised the paper's Harrisburg and D.C. bureaus and the daily makeup of the front section of the paper, including the front page. After that I joined the editorial board where I wrote editorials and edited the Op-ed page. I've won Keystone Press Awards from the Pennsylvania Newspaper Publishers Association and the Pennsylvania Society of Newspaper Editors for front page layout and editorial writing. I hold a B.A. degree from The Pennsylvania State University and an M.A. degree from Indiana University. Prior to moving back to Pennsylvania in the 1970s, I worked for the Indiana University News Bureau in Bloomington, Ind., and then for several weekly newspapers in Delaware and Maryland where I won awards for newswriting, feature writing, photography, and sports writing from the Md.-D.C.-Delaware Press Association.

I am also a published poet and won the 2015 Cape Cod Writer's Center Poetry Contest. In 2014 I finished a 10-year section hike of the Appalachian Trail. The photo shows me near the Lake of the Clouds Hut near the summit of Mount Washington in New Hampshire.
